Don't ever buy a really nice reproduction bent smoked monitor plexi (thanks Chuk) and stick it on your Playchoice 10 cab.
Then proceed to fill the PC-10 with games like Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, Wild Gunman etc..
and then let lil kids play it.

I was fit to be tied when I found massive scratches in the screen within a week of bringing it into my arcade.

I should have seen it coming... I am assuming it is from the gun being scraped against the plexi in hopes of an advantage for picking off more ducks.

I taped up the end of the pistol but I am sure it will not do as a permanent fix
(as I am typing this a birthday mom is allowing her lil one to hang on my original pac joystick like it was a jungle jim)

ahhhh man... "headache"

That sucks Richie! I remember the Duck Hunt machine at our Pizza Hut back in the day had scratches on every square inch of the plexi! I would imagine that kids have the gun pushed right up against the screen, and slide it all over to "aim".

I've always wondered why the PC-10 kit came with a glass screen. Maybe gun games were the reason why.

Make some kind of very bold, obvious sign stating to respect games. You could also threaten to charge parents for damages if they cannot control their kid.

You should see if you can get a piece remade using Mar-Resistant Lexan...

Ah... The joys (and hazards) of having games "on location".

The Pengo that my friend has in his ice cream shop gets abused all the time. Even though we have a step in front of it, the kids LOVE to hang off of it.

Oh well. At least it's getting played.

True Story: I was in there one time and I overheard a woman who had just walked in. She points at it and says to her friend, "Oh, they have Pac-man!"

LOL!!!!

How about some of that super sticky felt from Home Depot or Lowes? It's in the hardware section around the chair casters.

You could use a larger piece over the end of the gun, and cut a hole for the sensor to read through.

Not sure if it would eventually get picked off, but it might protect the plexiglass for a while.

the kind of parents who have kids like that probably dont have the money to pay for damages. if you take them to court you'll just be throwing away the money it costs to file. the police trainer at the local laundromat has the plexi so scratched up you cant even really see the game anymore.

I can tell you that hardly anyone reads signs. You could make it 6 feet tall by 10 feet wide and they will still say, "Oh, I didn't see the sign, sorry." You just have to keep an eye on it as best as possible and realize that most people do not care about your games, do not realize the game may be rare and they feel entitled to do whatever they want since they "paid" to be there.

PS: Sorry to hear that Richie. I know how you feel.

That sucks. Hopefully you still have the glass kit. I never knew why they changed to glass with the PC-10 kit, but I guess now we all know.

Actually, you can't do shit.....

if you've ever sued anyone or been sued, then you know that noone is responsible to pay a single dollar unless they make over the federal poverty level, which is 12k for a single person, and add several more thousands for every kid. most lower income people you could sue every day and you would never see a nickel. so sure, you can hang up all the signs you want, but good luck collecting any damages.

Actaully, if you have it posted where it's clearly visible that parents are responsible for any damages incurred by thier kids, you can.

Not for anything having to do with "normal wear and tear".

If you take the gun and smash it on the glass, then you might have a case...

A few scratches, nope. Not even if the person is playing with the gun pressed against the screen.

Yep, can't get blood out of a stone.

I remember that My dad had ex tennants (Selling the house during the Reagan recession was a bitch) mess us over pretty bad. We garnished his wages, but the guy and his family were living in a tent. Wasn't worth persuing it after that.

Hey I feel your pain. The wife is having a reunion party at the house right now and I have a little girl basically pulling the DK Jr joystick up and down instead of side to side. She is practically hanging on it like a jungle gym. And their killing the flippers on my pins.

Arrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh

i just refuse to let kids play my pins. I only have 2, and the only one in the gameroom is the Baby pac. I usually just leave it off and tell them its broken at the time. Last time i let someone younger than 10 play it, i thought i was going to have a heart attack, they were hanging from the stick, and then when they actually did manage to get to the pinball part, i think they just about wore out my brand new set of flipper bushings in a single game.
