Thought I'd share this one since I thought it was pretty funny. Awhile back I built a "custom" Midway Classics game (parts from one of those "Big games", you know what I'm talking about, put in a commercial 1/2 height cabinet I had). The project ended up on YouTube (was one of my first videos) and can be seen here:

So today, I get this message in my YouTube inbox:
My Goodwill had this Midway machine http://novatechgadgets.com/electronicgames.html and I was wondering if thats the same one you put in a different cabinet in your video. It was $175 cause the guy said that only half the picture shows up on the monitor. Could that be just a simple fix with a new monitor? Thanks for any info
My response:
The internal parts were from one of those machines, so yes. Would I pick one up for $175, hell no, especially with a bad monitor. They are cheap and cheezy and the only (somewhat) valuable part in those things is the internal components (which I paid $40 for). Just my advice. If you do end up getting it First check the connections inside. These run a simple (and cheezy) 14" AV Monitor, so it could be as simple as a loose AV Cable. If the monitor is bad, I have a working one from that same game I could sell cheap (although shipping would probably be costly), or you could probably find a 13" tv and rig it in somehow.
Basically the Midway classics would have never been in my collection if I didnt find someone who happened to part one out, sold me the parts, and I happened to have that commercial grade cabinet to throw it in. I later sold the game for a measly $165 (again, keep in mind it was now in an actual cabinet, with a real arcade control panel and a 20" monitor). So yeah, $175 is a ripoff. But good luck with whatever you decide.
