A.G.I Disco 19" AGM-20M - First attempt at a monitor
I have an early Paperboy with a A.G.I Disco 19" Medium Res AGM-20M in it. On initial inspection it seems like it is an unusual configuration that doesn't follow the standard AGM-20M cap Map. This version only has a brightnes pot on the neck board, all the others are on the chassis board.
Apparently the monitor would start up 50% of the time until it finally just didn't come on at all. When it did come on I am assuming the picture was fine as the guy who had it before would play it, this is the info I got from the last owner, so that's my starting point in this trouble shooting process.
There is no glow or whine from the monitor on power up even though everything else on the cab works fine.
So far on the restoration thread I have been recommended to look for bad solder joints on the board and chassis and fuses on the chassis board.
This is the first time I have ever touched a monitor, I don't have any prior experience in electronics, schematics, caps, diodes and circuit testing. I did go out and buy myself a decent multimeter and soldering station, so now I guess it's time to dive in and learn through problem solving.
