I've been on KLOV now for more than 17 years and have never seen this discussed, and perhaps it is something that applies only to me, but I wanted to share something that never occurred to me before that has caused me to turn on my arcade and play the games much more often than in the past.
I have 6 cabinets and some of them have multiple games in them, both SW emulated, FPGA emulated, and multiple boardsets of original hardware. So say maybe 50 games to choose from across all of the cabinets if you include the MAME cabinet selection.
Always in the past, I'd play maybe 3 games of 1 title, then get tired of it and move to the next game, and repeat. This was fine but after I'd visited 3-4 cabinets, I was done.
Lately I've been playing 1 game at a cabinet, then moving to play 1 game at a different cabinet, then a different game, and then a different game yet. And I've found that my interest is renewed in playing the first game after playing the others, and I just kind of cycle through them, never really hitting that "ok, done with this game" feeling at all. So I can make 3-4 passes or more across a bunch of games and am always playing something that has my peak interest right then. And when I'm done, I'm feeling really good about the arcade experience, better than in many years.
Anyway, that's my moment of self-discovery and it's made a big difference for me. Hopefully it'll make a difference for one of you as well. Or perhaps you are already doing that anyway.
