Most of the threads on here for Ice cold beer are for the older 80's version. I wanted one of those and like 4 or 5 have sold local to me but I never bothered picking them up. A local member here posted a 2003 version made by ICE that needed some tlc and decided to jump on it. It was converted and wasn't working when I got it from him. We came to a price and he dropped it off.

Starting off with how I got it from scottva33. This is the picture he took and listed it with.

The error it was dropping. This error is not in the manual.

I should note that the pdf manual that ICE will send you if you email them is missing a bunch of pages. I got lucky and saw a printed one that coinopwarehouse in maryland had on ebay so I bought it.

Fun package from Ice(received about a month ago)

The pictures really don't give that glass justice. The gold on it really pops.

Stupid marquee light that was in it. I ordered the bulb online for it and it blew it right away. I ordered a standard light from twisted quarter along with some misc parts I needed for other games.

Now more into the detail of what was wrong with it. I'm pretty sure something was wrong with the original motherboard in it although I haven't plugged it back in to verify. Bought a set of boards off KI4SWY on here untested. His motherboard did work although i didn't know it at the time. After dealing with a few things trying to figure out what was wrong and working with ICE support they figured it was the display board and I sent both in for repair. After a month or so it came back that the ribbon cable between them was bad(their test station was down and had to be repaired). They didn't have any more cables and claimed they fixed mine. It didn't work when it came back so I sourced the 26pin cable elsewhere(I have spares if anyone needs one). Got them in today and swapped the cable. Game came right up.

Past that I've replaced the top 3 bulbs on the play field and replaced some of the locks.

Whats Left to Do

Need to put coin mechs in it as they are missing(just noticed this)

Need some more ice keys for it(if anyone has some for sale let me know as ICE doesn't have them anymore). The keys don't come out of the standard locks unless you have them locked and I need a second for the control panel(right now the locking bar is off one side).

The wood grain on the control panel needs to be redone as it is messed up. Scottva33's picture shows it better then mine as it is on the right side the worst. It gives it some character so I may or may not fix it in the future(not to mention I'd need to find the right kind).

I don't have the side artwork on it. I might call ice and see about ordering it although the few of these games I've seen for sale in the past don't have it on them so I don't know if it was a factory option or what.

Edit:
The motherboard screw mounts are built into the metal cp and are not lined up perfect. It causes the mb to flex wrong and I'm guessing that is one of the reasons the first board was messing up. Right not I have it just sitting in the game. I need to mount it better later on.

I also have new set of drive belts that I bought from ice when I bought the glass. I didn't put them on though as the ones on it are in good shape. They have just been pushed to the side for future use.

New balls

The ball that I had for mine was pretty trashed. Ordered 3 new ones from Twisty Wrist Arcade. They list them for the old ice cold beer/zeke's peke but it is the same size as the new one. Why 3? Simple, it was the only thing they had that I needed and figured since I was paying shipping why not have spares.

I have the side art ordered for this game as well. Hopefully will have it in the next week or so.

That thing is HUGE compared to the original. Nice work. That is pretty damn cool that ICE still carries the artwork.

Thanks

Most of the parts for it ice doesn't have anymore. They did sell the game till like 06 or something though so it isn't but so old. They had replacement belts which I ordered but haven't put on(mine are in good shape). Mine was built in late 03.

I got lucky on the glass. ICE originally told me it wasn't available. Good thing I emailed them about it as the guy got back with me either later that day or the next day saying they found one. They made the marquee which was awesome and it is not an insert, it is applied to the plexi. Wasn't badly priced either. The side art is coming from them as well. Ordered it earlier in the week when they said they could print me some. It was cheaper than the reproduction art for the older game that places like chomping quarters sells(I'm not knocking their prices, I was expecting it to be more).

Not sure how good the sides will be but with how the marquee came out it should be pretty good.

And yes the game is huge. It does have wheels and handles on the back to make it easier to move.

Edit: Overall I will say ICE has given me good customer service. I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they have been.

Also I do kinda find it odd how rare this game seems to be. I'd have expected more people on here to have one given how people seem to jump on the old one. As I said earlier the few I have seen for sale didn't have the side art either. I was going to ask the person at ICE about it but they had told me before the game was before their time.
