A day in the life of New England Arcade Collectors - Or, Big cabinet, small door.

Wow! What an arcade day we had today in overcast New England....

5:30AM Leave house for WickedBass's place
5:50AM Get gas and Iced Coffee (two splendas and skim milk) at Dunkin Donuts. Also try the new "Egg and Cheese Wrap". It's the size of a half-dollar. Tastes like plastic.
6:46AM Stop for "Big Potty". ;)
7:30AM Arrive at WickedBass's place
7:45AM Load Time Pilot into my Ford Explorer
8:30AM Remove BIG ASS Road Blasters cockpit from Wicked's kitchen. Him and I only. Fun!
9:30AM Arrive at Video Dans. The other Dan shows up.
9:45AM Remove Phoenix and the other Time Pilot from Video Dan's Basement. Insert into F-150
10:00AM Arrive at seller "Johns" house. Look at upright Dualsystem. Wicked Bass agrees to buy.
10:03AM How the hell are we going to remove this from this crappy little cellar?
10:05AM Seriously, how the hell are we going to remove this from this crappy little cellar?
10:08M I don't think it's possible to remove this from this basement
10:20AM Cabinet is now closer to the cellar stairs
10:27AM Cabinet is now stuck in cellar stairs. We have to remove the door.
10:28AM Shirtless guy tells us about the cordless drill he has at his house. It's a Makita with a metal case. He bought it in the 80s. Doesn't help us.
10:35AM Remove door hinges with $0.75 screwdriver.
10:40AM Cabinet emerges from basement. Vintage 1978 skateboard used as impromptu dolly. I can't believe it worked
10:45AM Vs. Dualsystem cabinet is now in F-150 along with Phoenix and the other Time Pilot. F-150 and Explorer with Time Pilot leave the scene. That guy should have paid us to remove that from his basement! Who else would have bought this from him AND removed it from basement with four guys????
11:15AM Arrive at WickedBass's place. Remove Dualsystem from F-150. Place in shed. Wasn't too bad.
11:40AM Arrive at Video Dan's storage garage. Remove Phoenix and the other Time Pilot from F-150 and place in garage. Whee!
11:40:30AM Dan tells us about his cat that almost died in this garage because it hid inside his Kung Fu master before it was stored there. The cat survived a few days inside the cabinet. Great story.
11:42AM Move Ford Explorer to other side of alley. Blocking parking spots.
11:44AM Move Ford Explorer again. Angry Groundskeeper guy needs to trim weeds were said Ford Explorer is parked.
11:45AM Angry Groundskeeper Guy tells us about the minty fresh cabinets he has. He tells us to "Show him the money". We get mad at him. We now hate him. I don't think he ever liked us.
11:47AM Remove Pole Position Cockpit from garage and place it in F-150. HOLY CRAP IS THIS THING HEAVY!!!
12:00PM Go to some Roast Beef place. The lady mixes all of our orders up. It all worked out. Video Dan buys us all lunch. That was super nice! Charbroiled Chicken Sandwich was delicious.
12:45PM Arrive back at Video Dans. Time to place Pole Position Cockpit into his basement.
12:50PM Guy across street helps us remove it from F-150. Five guys to lower it from truck. Honestly, it felt like we needed them all.
12:51PM Wheel Pole Position Cockpit to cellar stairs.
12:52PM How the hell are we going to get this thing down those stairs?
12:53PM Seriously, how the hell are we going to get this thing in that basement?
12:54PM I don't think it's possible to get this cabinet in that basement. Is the opening large enough??
12:55PM Let's give it a shot.
12:57PM Oh crap, the back plexi just cracked! Video Dan says, "it's ok, it was only $35.00". Felt really bad. :(
12:58PM Ok guys, here we go. Ready? Pole Position gets tilted down the stairs. Here we go! Oh crap! It will not clear the opening.
12:59PM Now what? Let's turn it around and try it the other way!
1:10PM Here we go! This better work
1:15PM Cabinet is going down, it's tilted. ARRGH! It won't go this way either!!!
1:20PM Now what do we do????
1:25PM Video Dan says he has a hand saw. The other Dan says it will take an hour. I say, "I gotta go!"
1:30PM We clear out Video Dan's shed. We wheel the Pole Position Cockpit across his lawn. It rests between some bicycles and a shiny Craftsman Snowblower.
1:45PM Gotta go guys! It's been fun. Later!
3:50PM Arrive just in time for my daughters baseball photos. I actually miss them. My wife and kids are leaving from the field when I pull in. RATS!
4:00PM Arrive at home and remove Time Pilot cabinet from Explorer.
4:05PM Kiss wife. The End.

I love the picture where you have your arm around Phet and you're totally checking out his moobs out of the corner of your eye. Did you get to do any suckling?

It was an interesting day, to say the least! The Dual System was a bitch to move, the Pole Position was rough, too. But, we all worked as a team and enjoyed one another's company. Me treating you guys to lunch and hanging out at Giovanni's in Danvers, eating and shooting the shit, was cool as well..

Dan, Brian & John: Thanks again for everything!

Real sorry you missed your girls photo's John.
It was a fun day other than that though, I hope Christine wasn't too upset.

Tell her Christie says Hi.

It's totally cool. No worries. All is good. :)

Tell Christie, Christine says "Hi!" :)

6:46AM Stop for "Big Potty". ;)

For the life of me I cant understand how ANYONE can take a s*** in a public bathroom. I walked into one at a Fry's to take a piss tonight and got "maybe" three steps into the room before I turned around. What the hell happened in there???

Especially this time of year. People's nasty asses on those seats doing god knows what to that toilet. Ugh...

Sounded like a fun day though.

I really don't think I had a choice. :)

I remember seeing that Dualsystem online for like $300... how much did you guys snag it for? (I probably don't want to know)

Blkdog has a Punchout 'and' a Timepilot now?.... and before me?... this is unacceptable. ;)

Yeah, John had a Time Pilot type of day, lol. He picked one up, put it in his Explorer, then helped put another TP on my truck to transport it to a garage where it will stay til it is sold.

I actually didn't get a Time Pilot for myself. I picked up a painted black and Jamma'd Time Pilot cabinet that is now some DJ Rollerskating game. I was going to drop a 60 in 1 in it and give it to my boss for his game room. :)

Video Dan, I might want to talk to you about your Time Pilot. I do like that game....

Haha, that's quite an episode you guys had! And is that Road Blasters really serial #0001?
Is it different in any way from later production cabs?
