I finally got my last piece in the mail today. Crazy Climber is now complete! What a journey this one took me on. Call me a flipper or salesman or whatever you like, but this where my passion is. Turning nothing into something for others to enjoy. I don't just spray windex on the bezel and put my machines up for sale. I put the work in so of course I would like to get compensated for what I do, but that money is use to buy more to work on so I can bring more to live another day. BTW! I know some of you talk sh.. about Rich at TOG, but I have to say he is the best at what he does. He work is incredible from the details to the fit. I just want to shout him out because without him these type of machine I restore would never see the time of day.
FYI I will be making my post offering up these cabarets today (crazy climber, tempest, asteroids, asteroids deluxe, tetris, tac scan & zarzon)

Very nice work well done.

Are you a flipper - yep. Personally I'd never buy from you because you make everything a blind auction here on KLOV. To make a point I did that recently here with a Warlords cocktail and caught a shit storm of haters, I guess it's ok for some and not for others.

However, there's no questioning the fact that you pick up some fantastic stuff and you seem to put in the hours and money (like many of us) to getting the games into good playable shape, so good for you man.

Looking good! Need to swing by soon to see in person before they all leave.

Nice, DNS!

People can talk trash all they want but I have yet to meet somebody who actually knows you say one negative thing about you. You've probably saved more classics than anyone here. There are lots and lots of collectors who buy salvageable cabs and part them out or buy games and slap LCDs and multi-cades in them. There's a lot to be said for doing it right and you're better positioned than most of us to get original parts and bring these games back to how they should be.

This. Met/purchased from Darryl a few times and had nothing but good experiences. I haven't heard anything negative from anyone that has met up with him for a deal either. Good dude.

Good work. You do quality restores, and your love for the hobby is evident by how many you save. Buy them, sell them, keep them, none of that matters to me, as you are free to handle your items as you please. Its not a sin making a profit on an item either. It takes a ton of elbow grease and money to get games restored back to a presentable condition, and what you sell it for, should reflect that time, effort, and the added money you put into them.

Cheers.

3 facts of life I learned:

1.You can't please everyone so don't even try.

2. Your always going to have haters in your life no matter what you do, how you do it or where you do it.

3. Don't follow others & make your own way.

On a side note if everything is a silent auction why do most of my post have prices unless its under a mmao (make me an offer) or for trade. My thought process is always trading first to find parts I need for other projects, but people want what I have so they send me offers which sometimes I'm cool with, but other times I rather not sell. Don't always need the money and would rather have parts I need.

Very nice work well done.

Thanks for the kind words above & understanding of what I do & why I do it. It's just sad that some folks expect things to be 1 way only. If the price is not left on something (it's the end of the world) If someone sells something at a higher price than he or she would pay (it's the end of the world), If something is sold to cheap and others don't get it (it's the end of the world), If someone sells a game or part and makes a profit (it's the end of the world) and so on and so on. The funny thing is I know a few people that talk sh.. about flipping a game or part for more, but turn around and did the same thing themselves (recently). So this is why I don't need and don't have the time to deal with the BS that people put out. Life is to short to do drama because in the end what do you win. NOTHING! Be your own person and do you.

At least he fixes games up and puts them back in circulation...

better that then to just hoard a bunch of stuff that will never get fixed up or sold like many other people in the hobby do.

I don't begrudge anyone who is making a buck while helping keep these relics alive.

Congrats on the Crazy Climber!

:D

I typed up a bunch of supportive stuff for both Darryl and Griffin but then thought....What are the plans for the other trimlines? Zarzon, Polaris, Jungle King? I have an extra board set for Jungle King ;)

Yep I pretty much agree with all of this.

Just to be clear I'm not coming at you personally, just saying I hate MMAO and choose not to buy from those type of sales. We all flip games to support the hobby, hell I'd say 50% or more of my collection was funded by fixing up and selling games.

My grunt is with hypocrites on this site that will burn one person down for doing something while ignoring another doing the same thing. Certain keyboard warriors lost their minds when I did an MMAO because it was a highly sought after title. (I guess I know how to troll KLOV the hardest now though)

Anyway, like I said, great work and super impressive pick ups. Keep doing your thing, you're obviously good at it.

Well, when it comes to the MMAO thing I don't go back & forth with anyone turning it into a bidding war or silent auction. I take one offer only and let people know to give me their best offer they are willing or want to pay and that's it. Whatever sounds good to me I will take. Sometimes people came in after the fact with higher offers than what I took, so this is why it never hurts to submit an offer because you just never know. I mainly take offers on my rare title games or games I honestly don't have a price for. I like decent prices for my stuff, but I'm not money hungry or else I would be trying to sell everything and not offer to trade as well as put $2995 price tags on everything I sell. I think most of us know whats what out there. The better condition & rare the machine, you're going to have to pay for. People can stick to so called price guides if they want. Everyone has and should have their own way about doing stuff.

I'm convinced you have a tunnel from your garage to a forgotten operator warehouse. I'm completely astounded how much great stuff you find.

I gotta say, while I have only done one transaction with dj dns, it was great. It was a MMAO and I didn't know how much to offer on a board, he said what he wanted for it, I paid him and the parts showed up.

As far as I'm concerned it was a great transaction.

While I don't love MMAO, because I never want to lowball an offer as I rarely know what the going price is, its fine as long as the seller has a price in mind and is will to share that information.

There's a difference between someone who finds "bargain basement" deals and straight flips them(as is), and someone who finds "bargain basement" deals, repairs/rejuvenates them, THEN sells them. In fact, I think the difference is rather huge.

The former group is just in it for the money, as much as they can get because "Haha! I found it first! Now you gotta pay ME to get it!" Whereas the latter is a case of "I found this game, fixed it up real nice, now I'm going to sell it so I can find more to fix up." Aside from just "finding" them, there is some actual work(and from the looks of it, love) involved. I would certainly patronize the person restoring a game rather than a "flipper".

That's my only issue with MMAO. If I don't know if we are even in the same ballpark, than I risk "offending"(lowballing) the seller without intending to. Then again, I don't mind paying "fair market value" for something(assuming I can afford it in the first place)... and I think I have a reputation for that(reputation can carry a lot of weight in this hobby).
