Just curious what the black thing is on the flyback that I'm pointing to, is there a technical term for this piece? This particular piece is loose and rattling around the flyback even though the flyback is currently still good. Is this a sign of a failing flyback?

Also would like to know if a 13" G07 chassis could be used on a 19" G07 tube.

I've read about people jamming toothpicks down the center (core?) of the flyback to prevent hissing/vibration. Not sure if that applies here.

Edit: Not sure what changes between the 13" and 19", but I do know they are not "drop-in" compatible with each other.

that's the ferrite core. with out it the fly is just a paper weight.
if its not there you get no voltage from the fly for the heater in the tube among other voltage requirements the chassis needs to operate

drip a little epoxy or glue down by it and it will stop the vibration.

just make sure it is non conductive glue/epoxy.

The broken piece is a metal pin that is sort of a clamp for the ferrite core as the flyback is made. I've seen them fall completely out and the flyback still work. For some reason they sometimes snap and come loose. If it bothers you, add a drop of epoxy as was previously mentioned. If it has a green/white label, then I'd suggest rebuilding it with a new flyback and caps before it decides to die on it's own...

Pretty sure this fly's been replaced once before. It has a Taiwan sticker and a black anode cap, solder joints also suggest replacement. Any particular epoxy I should use?
