I have a couple of issues with my new "The getaway" First I cannot open the backbox. The key refuses to turn in it. Supposedly its the right key. Ideas?

Second the arm that kicks the ball out of the "random award cup" hits to hard or something, the ball goes to the right, hits the outerlane and bounces right back into the cup. Over and over and over. Did it like 30 times in a row then I turned it off.. Any ideas? THanks

And it drains on the Outlanes super fast and easy... LOL

Double check that you have the right coil for the bonus round kicker hole maybe? Is the machine leveled properly? That could be an issue possibly...

Not sure about the backbox. I've never had to break into one....yet...i have drilled some locks out before though :)

The key thing confuses me, because I locked the backbox with that same key about 2 hours before dropping it off.

The coil is correct with the tunnel shot kicker. I asked about this on RGP and here's the response I got: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.pinball/browse_thread/thread/d4250239f5eab398

I guess it looks like the slick playfield is causing the ball not to "bite" so to speak and it rolls back. To me, it looks like a bit of a design flaw as they could have put a gate to keep the ball from rolling back, but they do suggest putting in a weaker coil. Later I got an email from another RGP member saying that after a few games it will stop doing that as a little bit of the slickness wears off that spot in the game. What I did to keep it from happening was nudge to the left right as it kicked and it would come down normally.

EDIT:

And like I said earlier, if you need to order anything for that machine, let me know and I'll pick up the bill. I feel pretty embarrassed that you ran into issues not even an hour after I dropped it off. After shopping it I played it for a solid week without issues aside from that tunnel kicker bouncing back into the shot. But according to RGP that will go away with some time. Seriously though, please PM me or shoot me an email if you want to order that lesser-powered coil and I'll just order it and have it shipped to you directly or paypal you the money.

I have had the lock jam before when the mechanism it turns was jammed. Try moving the backbox a little bit to free up the jam.

As for the bounceback problem, I have occasionally had to readjust the level and tilt of my machines to prevent this kind of thing from happening.

Hey jar. It's not your fault. Minor tweeks and adjustments are to be expected in this hobby. Also do you like he flippers adjusted to here they are now on the getaway? Is that the secret to your ability? ;).

But also question to be masses. I hear that rev-1 of the roms can blow the supercharger. How prevelant is that issue?

Heh, the flippers were pretty much the only thing I didn't go over with that machine. At least, I think...maybe I did a rebuild. I've had so many machines in and out right now that I'm having trouble remembering if I rebuilt them or not right now.

Argh, still cant get the backglass out! Stupid lock wont turn lol. Anyone have another idea for me?

Sometimes when the lock is worn it can turn a bit without the key in it. Try taking a screwdriver and turning like you were locking it. Don't jam the screwdriver in the lock, you don't want to screw up the tumblers and make things worse. It won't turn much maybe an eighth of inch or so.
You can also try wiggling the key side to side when you are putting it. A shot of graphite or something to lubricate the lock might also help.

If you still don't get it loose, you can just pull the whole backbox lock out by unscrewing the screws on either side of the lock. You will need a security torx bit to get them out.

Why would you need a lock for the backbox for a HUO unit? I dont see where there was one on my High-Speed, I just looked all over backbox like where one was and it dont look like there was any lock ever. Was there a back box lock on the HS? You can't get it drill that lock out patch it up paint over it, unless you plan on putting it out on route. Let us know whats the deal!

Got it by jiggling the key up and down and stuff. Now im not going to relock it! Haha... Yeah you lock should be on the front of the backbox under the top lip.

The 3 pins I own are terrible to open. I just assumed this was common. I think one machine I finally drilled out and will replace if I ever care enough.

NOPE-- theres no lock for my backbox on my high-speed, I looked on the top lip, bottom, sides, NOTHING, and it dont seem to be that there ever was one put there (no patch marks). I'am not concerned about it really just curious that theres no lock at all,as theres no need to lock it for HUO. If I was you, now you got it open dont lock it ever again, useless in home environment.

Some of the games of that era had the locks in the top of the cabinet head near the center. if it's not there, you could take the glass out and look, you should be able to see where it suppossed to be.

Seriously theres nothing there I have searched like crazy, wonder why there is not.

I dunno, someone probably took it out, or your not finding it. Im sure 100 percent had them when they were coming off the line.
