I have a galaga that i bought for $275.

basically in solid shape but was in a Pennsylvania go-kart track for a long time and looks every bit of it.

I have bought all the replacement art, but it all says "1981 namco" instead of "midway" like the original art. It looks like excellent quality stuff. Why does it say namco?

Also, what is the ideal black paint to use to touch up the cabinet?

Also, what is the best method to remove the existing side art? razor blade?

the electonics are shaky on this game, garbage around the bugs on the screen. any electical recommendations for bulletproofing?

Thanks for any help you can offer, I will post pics when the restoration is underway.

If you're considering replacing the sideart, you may want to commit to repainting the sides and fixing any chips/issues while you're at it. Rustoleum satin black or semi-gloss would probably be the way to go. Can anyone chime in on sheen? I wouldn't do it with rattle cans, as you'd never get it perfectly even.

I have a spare set of the artwork with 'Namco' on it. I believe it's what Two Bit sells.

Not sure if you have a boardset issue, but.. When I bought mine, it would work for a few minutes, then reset. The connector on the wiring harness that connects to the power supply board was literally burnt black. These burn, which causes resistance, which causes heat..vicious cycle. They tarnish, at best.

As far as bulletproofing, I'd recommend replacing all of the electrolytic caps on the power supply board and the molex headers. I'd then replace the connector pins in the housings that plug in to the power supply board. Also, you'll want to do a cap kit on the monitor and reflow and check for cracked solder joints.
