We have a Crazy Climber that has been modded to run on one chip.
The one chip is fine, but it is set to freeplay.
Can you burn us a combo chip that is NOT set to freeplay?

I think there is a DIP setting for the FP, it's not an eprom thing...
According to this :

DIP SW 7 & 8 need to be set to OFF in order to use coin play.
Let me know if that makes sense.

The version we have has a hack on it because when you put a stock version of crazy climber in free play (via the dip switches) it stays on a static screen. Ours has a hack that shows the attract screen in free play. -- see here: http://www.arcadecollecting.com/crazy/cchack/
The problem with this is that if you set the hacked version to coin play (via dipswitches) then you can't coin it up.
We need a single rom version on a 27256 that does not have the free play hack.
Further complicating things, the Green box encrypted cpu on ours has been replaced with a normal Z80. So I don't know if we need special roms to run with a normal z80. Argh.

*** And here is where my brain explodes ***

I think I should be able to help.
I would have to decompile the hacked 27226 eprom to find exactly where the Attract Mod hack is located, and then replace that part of the code with the standard version.
[ The hacked version modifies 5 different eproms, so I need to find (at least) 5 different memory locations ]
The problem is that I don't have the 27256 eprom you have, so I don't know in what order the various eprom files are stored.

Could you possible forward the binary image of the 27256 eprom to me, or just tell me which order the various image files are sequenced ?
This is purely binary data manipulation. It's tedious, but not too difficult. I just need the 27256 eprom file to get started...
As for the standard Z80, that's not a problem as I have both the encrypted and un-encrypted versions (which you need).
So it's just going to take some time manipulating the eprom image to replace the Attract Hack with the standard verison.
Let me know what you can do to find the 27256 eprom image.

** Hatrick waved a magic wand and got the eprom image tonight. It has been sent off to Stephan so he can wave his magic wand too.
This stuff is crazy cool.
That is all.
