A Bad Sign Of What Might Come as the Normal

Pacman games suck and are almost literally a dime a dozen - there, I said it.

That's the way it should be.

Here here. It doesn't say it actually works, just that it has a speedup chip. A beat-up, non-working (you have to assume that when buying as-is and not stated working) Ms Pac - looks just about right ;) Sure it looks like it's on in the pictures, but pics don't count and let's face it, Pac's get burn so bad they always look on! SA sold 2 of those here last time for almost exactly that. Being the most common 'cade in the free world probably doesn't help it's value either. Just because you have pay 2x that for repro glass and giant glorified stickers doesn't make it valuable.

I'm not so sure on that, I have been looking for one for over a year, cheapest I have seen on C/L was $250 and it wasn't pretty and got sold out from under me after I had an agreement with the seller to buy it, they seem to start around $400 and go on up, yeah I was looking for a reasonably cheap one but dang people seem to think these are "rare" or something...at least around here...

I think there is a definite downwards price trend. I got an absolutely beautiful working Neo Geo 2 slot (dedicated) for 200 bucks recently and passed on a $150 working Atari Showcase. But do I, who has never sold a game in his life but likes to buy a lot, think it is a BAD sign? Afraid not ;)

Staggeringly common

Approx. sales : 115,000 (not counting boots and tables)

Nearly double any game ever, excluding Pac himself, who sold 100K domestically.

Tell that to the next guy who wants $1000 for one, then kick him squaw in the nuts!

Just sold my Galaga 60 in 1 to a non-collector out of state. It was kind of "word of mouth" and wasn't listed yet. But, we agreed on a very favorable price.

This was restored for my personal collection so it looked minty fresh!

Buyers are out there... You just need to find the right one!

Hmm. No description really. "All descriptions are pulled from offline or other Ebay sales." Not sure I'd want to risk that the pics are of the actual machine. No wonder the price was low. Basically buying an "as-is" machine and hoping you don't get a pile of shit...

Neo Geo games are a dime a dozen around my area.

Too bad I have no interest in them.

So the prices really ARE low these days. Your point?

Honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the holiday season. Everybody seems to be scrounging for extra money.

Classic vintage games are still going for decent money in my area, but that's about it.

That's a good explanation. There are still enough asses asking thousands for non working bricks around the web that I don't think everyone sees them as worthless ;) (even if the only ones who don't are the sellers themselves :D) I should buy this time of year more often, I could get more games that way, haha.

There are still PLENTY of the delusional type out there trying to get a fortune for games.

I have someone about a 5 minute drive from me, trying to get $360 for a Ms. Pac in a generic woodgrain cabinet with a generic marquee and no CPO on it.

Also has a Moon Patrol in an identical generic cab that (he says)plays blind he wants $150 for.

He was originally asking even more than this. Something like $650 for the pair.

I offered $200 for the pair, got an email about 2 weeks ago with a counter-offer of $420. I said no, got an email about 5 days ago with another counter-offer of $300. I said no...waiting for my "Come get em" email :D

Just sold mine for $800. Granted, its much nicer than the one on eBay, but there can be a good market depending on where youre at. Since I never planned to sell her and I jumped at an offer I recieved, I plan to use the money to buy another Ms. Pac cheaper and restore it if needed.
