I sent Joe a 6100 HV unit, a Asteroids board and a check for $75 to cover repair cost.
Today I received both units back. The HV unit was packed in my original box I sent it in way back on March 12, 2004. No check though. :-( I don't think they were repaired.

I never thought I'd see this stuff again. Hell, I really don't need it anymore!

Woah. So he's gonna try to make good? Did you talk to him or did it just show up out of the blue?

I should have mentioned he sent me an email last week asking if my shipping address was the same. The email was out of the blue.

Well, since you don't need it, just send it on to me. No need to send a check...

Was the check ever cashed, or did you put a stop payment on it if nothing was repaired?

I met Joe once at Hans' house when I was in Chicago for business. It was a bit odd as I knew who he was and all the things he owed people.

So... you sent him this stuff six years ago? Crazy...

Good news is, you can probably get most of your $75 back from selling those part.

HA!

ok, fair enough. "He showed up"

It was so long ago, I forgot what he looks like. I think it was Feb '03 or '04.

Funny.... last I "heard" from Joe, I googled him and found a link to his resume on his site with contact info, so I saved it for reference... apparently google spidered MIT, and found the copy I saved, and Joe filed a complaint for "copyright violation" for MIT hosting a copy of his resume...

...guess he was really going that far to hide from people...

I was just tipped off that Joe is now on FB if anyone wants to search him out. I looked on his public page and it says he is now in Fulton MO.

I totally don't understand this thread. The parts were returned unrepaired 6 yrs later by the proposed repairman and he kept the money??

Let me break it down for you. Joe was back in the day on RGVAC. People sent him a bunch of parts to be fixed(mostly vector, etc.) and he ended up dragging ass for years and then moving with everyones parts. Occasionally people will get their parts back usually after years of sending them in. He got way over his head in parts and machines. I dealt with him many times, but I was one of the luckly ones to be able to deal with him in person and I never sent him anything to fix(he bugged me to give him my vector boards and Asteroids boards to fix). I believe this was at the same time he told me I shilled my untested Asteroids board up to $80-90 on Ebay!!!

Glad to hear people are getting their stuff back, I tried to help everyone out back in the day after we compiled a list, but was never able to follow through.

Wonder if he moved with all the arcade stuff he had. I believe at one point he had like 4 Star Wars cockpits in his house and arcade boards everywhere.

Wow, blast from the past. I bet most KLOV'rs have no idea who Joe Bachman is. Weird that he'd just decide to return something after so many years. Who's next, KrazyKat?

THe day he moved out there was a 40 yard dumpster in front of his house that was overfilled with stuff. He did have games and parts all over the house, garage and even the lawn. As you said, he got in way over his head and once he lost control he could never regain it.
