99% Sure Bad Dudes Vs. Dragon Ninja Came in a 25" Cabinet

So I got this a few years ago as a Mortal Konbat Konversion.

When I went to replace the joysticks and buttons I found this:

This is overlay is right on the bare metal, so hardly something an operator would do when converting would be to strip the panel down to bare metal.

The sides are covered with grey Data East vinyl on bare particle board, and if you look at the sides there is a faded outline of a Data East logo:

DE Side art:

The speaker hole is exactly the same 3 slot design as on the 19" Bad Dudes:

And this morning I took a curved plexi 19" Bad Dudes marquee and installed it in the cabinet. It fit perfectly when flattened with no gaps:

So now I am 99% sure this was originally a Bad Dudes Vs. Dragon Ninja. Now I need to find a NOS Bad Dudes CPO and Data East side art. I have no idea if a reproduction CPO would fit, but I am guessing that a NOS one would be wide enough to fit.

I need to strip off the Mortal Kombat stuff and see what remains of the original CPO and see if I can get some measurements to see the spacing.

I have no idea if this thing had a printed bezel like the 19" I might fabricate one if I can find scans of the 19"

oh that's the bad dudes cab you're restoring(been watching). Looks like it's coming along nicely and I can see how the repo logo art you found just doesn't look quite right(at least to me as I like Black and silver). I don't know how hard it's gonna be to find a good one or a Data East CPL but I did find this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAD-DUDES-D...571?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f179f7fdb

Data East built lots of cabs so finding a decent condition 2P CPL shouldn't that hard

Glad the marquee made it ;)

I can remember BITD my dad had 25" Bad Dudes, Robocop, and Cobra Command (not the laser, the DE version) lined up next to each other at his best mall arcade. I'm almost positve they had game specific bezels. Did you check the back of the MK to see if there is graphic still on the back? Maybe painted over?

Thanks for the auction, I am watching it. $12 is pretty high shipping though.

As for the control panel, mine is 27" wide, I don't know how wide the 19" panel is.

Thanks! Yes it came well packed! I love the extra plexi and crane marquee you used to protect it! That piece of clear plexi would cost me $30 to buy new! It will get a nice home in my Galaga '88 cabinet!

Were there photos of your Dad's arcade from back then?

I asked my mom about pics. She is going to check. I do have an article somewhere about one of his bigger arcades, Space Station, in Reisterstown MD. It is from an old baltimore Sun flyer magazine back in like 1982. I'll try to scan it in. Evening magazine and channel 13 used to do arcade stories from there too. Even Oprah used to come in to play Ms Pacman when she lived in Baltimore.

The DE lineup was at an arcade he used to operate at Palmer Park Mall in Easton PA. That arcade was small, but it was right inside the entrance of the mall and it used to kick ass.

Awesome! Thanks! Bad Dudes came out in 1988 so it would be 88 or later.

I know this is old. But I was changing my buttons on my bad dudes and remembered you were needing a cpo. So I scanned the text parts on mine at 900 dpi. So if you are good at photo shop you can use the scans and the generics to place the words back exactly were they are suppose to go by matching up the stars in the backgrounds of both the scans and the generic. If interested let me know and I'll get the scans to you.
Attached is an example I did real quick in photoshop. Of course I'm no expert so its a little sloppy but you get the idea.

Holy crap yes please!

Have you ever been able to find a single photo of a 25" Bad Dudes complete?

Did it have a bezel?

Etc?

Now, but if you saw this cabinet in person you would have no doubt of its authenticity.

Look back in the thread and a few guys day they have seen these back in the day.

Ok I uploaded them on my ftp server. So grab a ftp client like filezilla and connect to:
www.autoscience.com
username: klovers
password: klovers

in the cpo folder as BadDudeCpoScanparts.zip and also the generic data east scan is in there too.

I would request that if you can combine them to make a good printable cpo for bad dudes I'd appreciate it if you would share it. I'd love to replace mine as you can see from the comparison that fine is faded.

Good luck man!!!

oh, to be 5 years old again. I had a stretch of my life where I would play this game every day. I missed this thread 10 years ago though, I don't ever recall seeing a 25" Bad Dudes before. I have the board in my distant collection, not entirely sure if the Dynamo cabinet will make it here though. ;(
