I have seen so many destroyed but it seems like such a waste of materials. I was wondering if anyone knew of a use for them besides a gambling machine. Has anyone attempted a jamma retro fit or some sort of conversion? This question applies to the touchscreen bartop units. Obviously the full size cabs would be fairly easy but what of the smaller systems? If so, what models were successfully retro fitted?

I had planned to turn mine into a pong....of course that's probably just as bad as an 8 liner. You could take that idea and make it a Mame cab based on games that need dials...Pong...Clowns, etc.

I have seen a few turned into MAME and various other games, including a Galaga 3.

I have one (upright) that I got with a working Cherry Master pcb and no monitor. I put a monitor in it - and can play CM - but I also put a JAMMA harness and switcher in and use it as a horizontal JAMMA cab. I'm probably going to permanently change it over and remove the CM buttons and put in a joystick and some regular arcade buttons. Wish I could find another so I could make a vertical JAMMA cab...

I like that idea. Since those early games all had such unique cabinets, why not put them in odd newer cabinets?
