There was a thread on this back in 2011, but the question wasn't entirely answered.

We have an air hockey table that only comes with .882 mechs, and we have .880 tokens to use. Will the .880s work in the .882 mechs? If not, is there a way to modify the .882 mechs to accommodate the .880 tokens?

thats 2 one thousands of an inch difference. (iirc, a piece of notebook paper is around .0035 thick, or almost twice as thick as the difference.)
I'd suspect there's that much difference between one token to the next, due to nothing more than use/age.
Long story short, try them and see, i'd bet they work without issue.

one would think the .882 coins would NOT work in the .880s
but the .880s WOULD work in the .882s

If you were going to buy something, one would think a bunch of .882 tokens would be cheaper than a .880 coin mech but I don't know

measure a quarter and see what that comes out to ???
good luck

.

The two-thousandths of an inch thing is what gets me. I can't imagine it would make a difference. Thanks for the input!!
