8-Liners (Wei-Ya) 19" Monitors Available

Is there really a market for new QUALITY 19" raster CRT monitors? If so, maybe I need to expand my goals a bit. :)

I'm already in good with a Korean tube manufacturer, so it might not be too far of a stretch to move into raster monitors as well. Maybe Amplifone raster monitors? LOL

I just ordered two rebuilt tubes for a G07 for about $150 shipped. I know you can get other monitors cheaper, but I want something known to work for a long time and that is easy to fix if it does fail. If you repro'ed G07 tubes, or even the whole monitor they would sale IMHO. Too many tubes out there are burned and the replacement tubes are drying up.

Edit: Plus I don't want to have to mess with mounting something different in my cocktail.

If you could make monitors that were compatible with G07's or something else common, then I'd say yes. :)

My fear with new monitors is they'll break in a few months and I won't have a way to fix them. At least with G07's and the common WG models, everyone knows how to work on them and you can usually get help with troubleshooting them.

There are three tubes that would be good candidates to make. I ordered the 19VMJP22 as it is one of the three listed (and only one I could find) in this Bally service bulletin. It indicates they spoke to Electrohome and WG about replacements due to the internal vs. external degaussing shield issue. So the ones with the internal shield are more universal.

WOW .. Thats a slack shipping department. Also shows a lack of good organization on their part.

DO NOT order from these guys. just look at all the bad experiences already posted here and I'm about to add another. I'm not even going to bother showing pictures, it's pitiful. the chasis was broken off of the frame completely, it in turn must have hit the neckboard because it was partially dislodged from the tube.

anyone else want to chime in about how they handle returns? I want nothing more to do with this business I think ordering from them is a crapshoot, and just like a roll of the dice, you will usually lose.

did a little more inspection and yup, the tube is broken, hopeless. after 3 weeks of waiting i'm so disappointed and annoyed.

Sorry to hear that... They really need to pack the monitors in real monitor boxes or use that spray in crap that molds to the shape of the contents to hold everything in place. Cutting shipping costs doesn't help when you have to re-ship everything.

I agree... they charge $40 shipping.... I'd rather they charge $50 or $60 and do it right.

Sorry to hear you're monitor is toast. I actually got the replacement chassis tray in the mail from them yesterday.

just want to provide an update on my experiences with 8liners. here's a run down:

ordered monitor on 7/2
finally shipped around 3 weeks later
arrived completely destroyed by UPS, tube glass broken, chasis broken off of frame.
packaging was not so great but not awful
UPS denied claim
UPS shipped monitor back to 8liners (I guess because it never showed up at my door again and the tracking says returned to shipper)
I last heard from Victor 10 days ago, said he was out of the country but would provide a refund.

filed dispute with paypal, their policy says they can't do anything because they only deal with shipments that don't show up, not the actual product, nonsense.

so at this point I'm out $160 and haven't heard from them in 10 days and have no monitor, not even the chasis which was probably functional and worth something.

from this experience I cannot recommend these guys. I will report back if I ever do receive a refund.

Do you fund for your payment in paypal with a credit card? If so, call your CC company and do a chargeback. I recommend to everyone to not let PP take money out of your account since you have no real protection to get it back. The CC companies are concerned about you and your business and PP is not.

regular paypal. I received a refund today for anyone curious. the whole process took about 20 emails.
