Hi,

I found a 77 Stern Rawhide for what I though was a good price in non-working condition...I was told it had not been used in 20 years.

The score reels were filthy and I removed all 16 one at a time, disassembled and cleaned the gunk off with alcohol and reassembled. After a thorough vacuuming and fixing a few broken wires I thought I'd plug it in to see what it would do. The score motor spun while the score reels jerked as it tried to reset. Some reset fine but others would just vibrate unless I gave the score reel a little help. It's almost like the coil didn't have enough juice to move the reel. I did test each reel to make sure it would advance by engaging the coil plunger manually and all would advance freely.

Any tips on score reels? Could the transformer be weak?

Thanks

Switches are out of adjustment or dirty for sure.

Still no go...

I cleaned all plugs, male and female and also, my flexstone arrived from Marco Specialties yesterday, so I cleaned every contact and made sure all the stepper units moved freely and would manually reset. I did notice the credit wheel would reset to "1" but would not reset to the blank area (no zero).

I reassembled and popped in a quarter (I'll set to free play later) and pressed the credit button and could hear the score motor turn and the machine reset as it should. Not much else happened. 2 items on the playfield caused the score motor to turn when manually activated but the rest did nothing, no flippers either, and the score reels would did not register when activating playfieled switches manually. I did also notice the coin door would buzz when I manually closed one of the 2 working playfieled switches, not sure if that means anything.

Anything obvious? I did inspect all the switch contacts and could see nothing bent or out of place, but did not check yet to see if all were in proper closed or open position as I was hoping.

Thanks
