I recapped this chassis for a friend of mine. This is the first time I have ever done one of these. It worked great in the shop. When he got it home after an hour drive it had vertical collapse. I removed the chassis today and noticed a loose wire. There is a resistor that has been put on here, and I am not sure where this orange wire is supposed to go if anywhere at all. Since this resistor is in the vertical section of the chassis I think it might have something to do with my problem. Please take a look at the picture and let me know what you think! The orange wire is not connected to anything at all!

that's a U5000, dude.

that resistor is a jumper that's used depending on whether you're running in standard res or medium res.

it hooks up to that pin if you're running standard res. the resistor itself should mount on the nearby heatsink. there's holes on both my U5000s to allot for it.

Thank you, that is a U5000 I missed the differences between them. My question still remains though. One side of the resistor is connected to on pin. The other side is connected through the board. There is a third wire( the orange one) just wondering if that is supposed to be connected to anything, or is someone made their own jumper out of a pice of wiring they had laying around. As there are 2 pins there, I am just wondering if it needs to be hooked up to the other pin also using the orange wire.

the orange wire goes to the pin. it was a stupid connector design. then again, I guess for the sake of making it more aesthetically pleasing you could plug the empty hole to the pin when you don't need it.

I'd send the picture, but this might be a little easier than we think. lol (it's on my cell phone)

the white wire goes to the 2 pin connector, which connects to that pin.
the brown wire was connected.. you see how it goes into a hole in front of a cap?

the orange wire goes in the hole right next the brown one!

then as far as the resistor goes, the orange and white get soldered to one side, and the brown wire goes to the other.

I think I can get it from there bro. Did not see that there was another hole next to it, since it was filled with solder. I think I got it from here. Thanks a pant load again for taking the time!!
