anyone know if you can put a 720 control panel and possible the speaker/header on another atari cab??? Im about 1 step away from having all the parts to put in another cabinet...

I don't believe atari put any other games in that same cab. So the parts won't be an exact fit for any cab but that one. I've seen at least one really strange conversion where a 720 was put in another cab but they didn't use any original external parts other than the joy stick.

Atari made a few cabs that were similar in design to 720, but none of them are exact, i might be mistaken, but i believe the rest of the cabs that are that style are 19" cabs, while 720 is a 25". Plus, The 720 cab is a Medium res monitor, while the other ones were standard res, or vectors.
Off the top of my head the similar (but not identical) cabs - I Robot, Major Havoc, Firefox and Return of the Jedi. There are probably others that i left out.

super sprint is also a 25 in med res and its a system 2, thats why i was asking about it.

I thought super sprint was a 19in. Either way it's a totally different cab for sure. Actually the size of the med res monitor doesn't matter the game will play on either. Your parts from an original 720 (cp, speaker grill ect.) will not fit on a super sprint cab.

You should buy the one in MS. If it's a grail to you, then you probably won't be satisfied with a conversion. No other cabinet is the same, as it has the 25" in it and the upper speaker/boombox thing.

I agree

Im gonna get a dedicated cab someday but for now I will settle for the guts and make one of my own for now.. I have some cool ideas for it....

Im curious to see how your project turns out. Ive only seen dedicated 720's. When your finished please post an update thread w/ pics....

720 parts have arrived

Got my 720 parts in today...Problem is the guy that I paid alot of money to for bds, control panel, monitor bd, power supply harness, brick in bottom of cab( tranformer thing )....Just threw it all in a big box and let it bang around like a box of rocks on the ups truck. About enough packing materials in there for a power supply..
This shit will probably never work..I continue to get screwed...And Im not even enjoying it...

You got the guts and I got the cab

I had wondered if it was you. If you can , please do me a favor and send me a pm or shoot me an email with exactly what you received? I got the cabinet with speaker boom box assembly, the wg 25" 5515 med res monitor, a joystick assembly, and coin door. I only ask because then I will have a good list of exactly what I need. I have a board set and atari II audio pcb on the way.

Thanks

Sorry about your luck. That is a favorite seller tactic to turn "working" boards into "must have been the damned shipping company's problem for banging it around!! :/

Funny

I guess the guy made out like a bandit..You probably need a wiring harness, giant brick in bottom of game, power supply.. would be the just of it, thats about what I got ( i got 2 bd sets, control panel, wiring harness, power supply, 2 mon bds one of which looks trashed...and paid the guy 250 bucks.)
