ok, this thing has been down for a year. It works except joystick is non responsive. New encoder board, checked wiring continuity, known working LETA chip, voltage on the +5 was reading 4.6 on the board, i cranked it up.. reads 5.7 at the switcher, at the board it reads 5.4 It stopped working after i rebuilt the joystick. Some of the joystick wires were out of the molex and soldered directly to the board on the stick. I am 99% sure i didn't rearrange them, but it's possible. Can anyone give me a nice clear pic of the connectors on the board at the joystick base so i can double check this? thanks! Brett

Don't have a picture atm, but arcarc has the schematic package which list the wire colors along with the corresponding pin numbers. Look at page 2. If that isn't good enough, let me know and I'll take a picture.

I do agree with mrpeepers though you've got power issues and cranking the voltage up may of done more harm then good.

Turn that voltage down or you will be sorry.

System II games are notorious for having wires soldered directly to the boards, because the headers and connectors burn up.

got the switcher turned down to 5.1 and when i read it on the board, i have 4.6 Also, looked up the schematics, and the wiring for the stick is confusing. I am using a ram controls replacement encoder board.. so i can't tell what plug is A or B so it isn't of much use. The length of the wires leads me to believe i have them on the correct plugs, but the color sequences are backwards, even though the molexes lock on correctly. Really need a pic to verify correctness on this..

nevermind.. i'm an idiot. I didn't have the wiring wrong.. i had the F(@*ing encoder discs juxtaposed, hence why it didn't work. Only 14 months of it being down, due to stupidity on my part. Of course, i can't find my nut driver set to tear it apart and switch them, so i guess i'll wait till tomorrow. F%^K!
