Picked up this 720 from Chad earlier today, very same game my son dumped tons quarters into back in the 80's at Surfin' Bird skate shop here in Green Bay. Needs some cosmetic work but it's solid and works 100%. Aside from a bit of color fading/yellowing, CPO and boombox graphics are virtually scratch free. Skate or Die!

Fantastic pick up!! This game is my grail. I will eventually get one of these if the timing/distance ever works out. If I was closer I probably would have picked up this one. It is such a unique game in appearance and controls. It is one of those games that can't be truly enjoyed without the original hardware and feel of the game. Enjoy your 720 and I will keep hoping that one pops up locally someday. :)

That's pretty awesome that it was the same one your son played!

Yes! According to Chad at the Arcadecup, the guy he got the game from bought it from Curt the owner of the skate shop Surfin' Bird. Apparently it was bought new sometime in late '86 or early '87. My son knew Curt fairly well from all the time he spent at the shop buying skate stuff and playing the game, he occasionally runs into Curt. I imagine he'll have something new to talk to him about the next time he does, and will verify for certain that it's the same game. Curt sold the shop years ago and is now in the restaurant business, he sold the game at some point around the time he opened the restaurant. My son called me around 8 oclock last night to tell me he just finished playing it non stop since dropping it off, that was around 2 yesterday afternoon. Too cool.

Glad this went to a good home and its now even more special since it's the one he played in the day!. I miss it already now!.. Happy you are all enjoying it so much.. I too spent $$ at Curts shop during my high school years. :) The killer skate clothes he sold at the time made up a good amount of my wardrobe.

AWESOME story, tales like this are the best part about arcade collecting!

Sounds as though it went to the perfect person!
