720 glitches

I recently picked up a 720, and have noticed some little glitches, and one big one. The weirdest little one was when I crashed in skate city, but when I landed, I "rolled" inside one of the smaller jump ramps that are set up all around skate city. My guy was in crashed position, laying on the ground, but he would not get up. The bees showed up, but did not kill me, because the ramp was blocking them from getting me. I turned machine off and back on to play again, because player would not stand up, he stayed laying on ground, and bees couldn't get me to end the game. Has only happened once.

The big one as I call it, has happened a good 5 or 6 times now, and happens on the ramp. When it first starts, and I try the "ramp lip trick" to rack up points BEFORE dropping down into the ramp (as seen here: http://www.720zone.com/720-Gameplay.html in the advanced trick section, BIG THANKS to Jeff for keeping up the site, and making video). If I mess it up while going backwards, after bouncing off wall, and I don't line up "correctly" with the lip, for the whole length of the lip, then what has happened 5 or 6 times now is that my player will begin the rail slide, stay on top of the ramp, speed up to a pretty quick speed, but then I veer off into the top wall (on the right) that runs parallel to the rail, then I'll try to go into the ramp before I "fail to begin in time", and my skater then will turn to go down into ramp, but continues in the middle of the air, almost floating, as if a ramp is still there under his feet, and then drops down about halfway across the ramp (as if he was still on top, and then dropped in to the ramp).

It gets crazier...once on the ramp, if I try to go up the other side (opposite beginning side) like normal, my skater goes THRU the ramp, and goes up an imaginary side of the ramp out on the grass (outside the visible graphic area of the ramp itself)! The ramp will "reset" itself graphically once you go up the side of the ramp you started on. You don't "see" any shift on the screen of the ramp itself, but it does "jitter" really quickly, and then when you go back up other side of ramp again (opposite of starting side, same side as glitch when went thru ramp), things are then back to normal.

If I don't try to go back up starting side, and "reset" graphic, then I CAN go back thru the ramp, and out onto grass again. But, your time keeps running, and you mess up your score for the event.

So, when the error occurs, when still on top of ramp, it's basically is as if the CPU "sees" the entire graphic of the ramp as if it were shifted over to the "left." The ramp itself does NOT move. This explains why my skater finally drops down from floating in middle of the air when halfway across the ramp (the CPU still thinks there's a top ledge there for the skater to stand on), and also explains why my skater goes up an invisible left side of the ramp out on the grass, after going thru the ramp (the CPU thinks the side of the ramp is actually there).

Just wondering if anyone else has run into these things, and if it's a version issue or something.

what is your +5 metering at?

It's at 5.39vdc at power supply. Seems a bit high. There have been 3 incidents where the game did not boot up when powered on. Simple turn off and on fixed it every time. Not a "problem" by any means. Game plays fine other than those rare glitches (I do play a lot).

I can adjust +5v. What should I be looking for?

Thanks for help!

shoot for closer to +5.1v

I'm not sure the +5 is causing the glitches, but it might be part of the problem. I've had a similar glitch to the one in the 1/2 pipe event one you describe, but after bailing it bounces me to the outside of the pipe and I can resume skating as normal.

Interesting glitch for sure!

I just adjusted it to 5.1v, and the game still plays which is great news! Hopefully it takes care of it 'cause it did ruin a couple good runs. :)

I'll chime back in if it happens again.

Thanks again!

Well...the big ramp error is still happening. Not sure what's going on.

Anyone other ideas?

I agree, it should be measured at the board, but if I don't know what it should be at, then that doesn't help much either. ;)

Okay, I believe I checked all my +5v on this thing, and they all read at 5.10v.

Should I take it a little lower, or as low as possible as long as it plays, or is there a "sweet spot" for the voltage?

Anyone running under 5.10v?

Thanks.
