ok still have probs with 720 controller! still no dots in the circles of test menu but does move now!

update:
rebuilt controller and replace encoder with new pcb and wheels, finally found i only had 4.8v at encoder pcb, bumped to 5.1v then had movement but still sporadic though!

replaced with a used LETA chip, now it moves all around but still can't calibrate in menu and is annoying cause it's about 1/4-1/2 inch off on controller so not perfectly "north"

at a loss now as i feel like i have tried everything!

can someone explain how the input for the controller test screen works?

any other ideas?

Wish I could help you...I'm about 2 weeks behind you on my restore. Waiting for my parts to come from Dave...have you tried e-mailing him at Ram Controls to see if he knows anything?

no i haven't but he takes to reply a lot anyways, i figure someone has had this or at least could steer me in a direction(no pun intended)!

i don't have an extra boardset or i would shotgun!

Sounds like you're issue is way past this, but are you certain the stick is together correctly? If you put the cp up in its service slot, then move the stick exactly straight up, are the two slots in the centering disc inside the black optic readers?

I've got a page on controller maintenance, but not a whole lot the specifics of the optic PCB.

in its service slot? it looks like there are only 3 ways(3 small screws into the centering disc). the only that is closest to having the two slots into the black readers are still not perfectly "north" or "with the controller straight up"! that's what i'm saying is that its about 1/4-3/8 off probably. and that looks like the only given spot unless i'm missing an adj somewhere???

The controller itself can only really go together one way. The centering disc does have 3 positions. Put it in the closest to the encoder when the stick is positioned north. If it's off, maybe post a few pictures of what is going on.

What is the +5 voltage measured at the switcher, not at the encoder pcbs?
The power connectors to the main board turn brown a create resistance and voltage drops that can cause problems.
Do yours look anything like this picture? Replace it!
