720 is hands down my favorite game ever. it was great meeting some of the other 720 buffs at CAX. but mainly I just have to say WOW jeff civitate is even better at 720 than i imagined! i had not met him before but recognized him from his youtube videos (i think). i'm a mid to high 300's player (got like 340k i think at the show) but the 460k that jeff got is insane. the most impressive thing is how he does tricks the whole way down every downhill BACKWARDS. landing backwards like that on every trick is no small feat. anyways just had to geek out on my fun experience playing 720 and meeting a bunch of you guys. and a big thanks to whoever brought the very nice 720 with a fantastic joystick! see you guys next year :)

i was strolling around when i came across jeff playing the 720 sat night.....

all i can say is wow, just wow. jeff is an amazing player to watch, great techniques, was lucky enough to see his 460k game.

i also heard that 720 was originally in the atari headquarters facility. real nice original condition cab too.

thats too bad i didnt get to meet you rich (fellow skater dude). chris

Damnit. +1. I played 720 a few times, but every time I went by, no one was playing it. I was shocked. Would have been cool to meet ya both.

Well, technically, I met ENDOFLINE, but not playing the game. I really don't remember running into, or meeting skater... :( Our name badges had our names so. dang. small!*

* Upgrade for next year, please!!!

here's a pic of jeffc owning 720 on his 460k run (vectorinvader in the background).....

WTB 720 on east coast

I am looking for a 720 in good working condition. It will be going on location into a bar in Chapel Hill North Carolina. The owners of the bar love 720. I can pick the game up on the east coast. Call or e-mail me. Thanks Don

I was so happy to see some good 720 action at CAX this year! It seemed to be getting play much of the day on Saturday. Rich, it was a pleasure to finally meet you face-to-face. It's awesome to meet someone who shares my passion for the game. You definitely put up your own display of 720 skills; very impressive, especially considering the time between your last opportunity to play. Last year the 720 wasn't working for much of the show, so it was great to finally have a first class cabinet. This one had a flawless joystick and a great picture; really nice. There were a few other good players I enjoyed watching and chatting with.

Chris – it was great catching up with you and Dave. Glad you enjoyed the game of 720, and thanks for returning the favor by showing me what's up on Zoo Keeper.

This year's CAX was a blast overall! As usual I wish I'd had a chance to catch more KLOV'ers, but I had some good conversations with Chris (EndofLine) and Dave (Vectorinvader). I finally got to meet AtariScott (Evans) after pestering him about 720 history for quite a while. I had a quick conversation with Jow & his wife Angela, but wish we'd been able to chat more. It was good to quickly see some of the regular veterans: Avidgeek, Chris1234567890, Mylstar…ran into Xray2 in the elevator, and talked to Jehuie very quick…and thanks to Gregatron for joining me in being way late to the photo. I think it was Arcadejunkie who took a 2nd-chance photo of us. Thanks dude.

By the way, I think it was me who suggested the official photo time, and I was late….fail.

Already looking forward to next year. SKATE OR DIE!!!

he does tricks the whole way down every downhill BACKWARDS. landing backwards like that on every trick is no small feat.

...and I have to give credit where its due: I learned this backwards trick, and several others, from expert 720 player Matt (MrPeepers here on KLOV).

i'd LOVE to see him play too. i was trying to do backwards spins down each entire downhill but thats going to take quite a bit of practice for me (i kept going off course). i definitely saw where it comes in handy limiting your amount of shoes and boards so you don't go to far or high on each jump. its tough to keep control when you travel too much distance. i gotta tell you, my hand is still hurting from CAX. might be a good thing that my 720 has left the building because I am so stoked on that game right now that i would probably play until hospitalization. thanks again for all the tips jeff and it certainly was a pleasure meeting you!

hey- isn't the score you got on saturday night (your second game that i missed - but saw your score on the machine) your personal best? or at least higher than your twin galaxies score?

I was helping load the last games onto the the trucks. Saw the 720 still there and I asked about it. Its ken and TJ's. So I would assume it will be a regular piece at the show.

i had a feeling it was their game. i bought my last 720 machine from them and i think they had just picked this one up as they had mentioned a clean condition one. awesome that we may see it again next year :)

In short, Yes it's better than my TG submission, but it's not higher than my personal best.

The longer story is that the settings on that machine weren't official TG, which requires a shorter street timer setting. I'm really not in top form right now and should have been able to get much higher with those settings. There are a few regular 720 players, myself included, that believe the world record was done with the same longer street timer, which explains the large difference between the WR and the relatively close personal bests we all post. I wrote a long article about it a while back...but again, that's a long story.

Hey Jeff, I was planning on a CAX road trip, but it I had to cancel the day before. Hopefully next year we can have a meeting of the minds there. My 720 playing is VERY rusty. The high score attempts were causing me serious shoulder problems. Plus, it got pretty frustrating to be chasing a most likely illegitimate score. I also pretty much wore out my lower housing on the controller, and until Dave Adams makes them, they are tough to find.
My one last hope that the current score is possible, is discovering the blue flag logic. I don't know if it's possible, but I am willing to pay someone quite well to look at the code and give me the secret facts.
Skate or die!

I know 720 is a great game (I'm not very good at it though), but seeing this sort of reaction is pretty awesome. Our 720 made it to last year's show but developed a weird board problem in transit.

I'll put extra effort into making sure it shows up again next year.

This particular machine came from Atari's gameroom. (Property Of Atari Games sticker on the side)

I think I have 2 720 controlers in my joystick box.. Not a game I plan to own, so I have no problem selling them if people have need.

As for the game settings, I think if you ask, someone could have adjusted the game to tournament specs.
