I just ordered a new 6502 processor chip for my Asteroids, from arcade chips and had a question. I think I'm 99% sure it's a yes, but here goes. My current works fine, really don't want to get into why I'm swapping. :)

I can simply swap this chip with the old, there is no programming I need with the new, is that correct?

Thanks, I just don't want to create any issues...

It's a CPU that doesn't have any memory to program... the programs are held in the ROMs/PROMs on the board, not the CPU.

You're swapping because the date on the one that's in there is modern, and you're looking for old parts?

Or he's swapping a new one in to sell an old white ceramic one which can go for up to $200 to collectors... ;)
