all,

The 6100 in my tempest went dark on me. Now the spot killer is on.

I can hear the monitor come on and chatter. Game plays blind with two different boards.

No LV2000 installed.

Where should i start?

Check your deflection transistors. You can still have chatter with bad transistors. Pull and clean them and put new heatsink compound on them. Test all the transistors for continuity to the frame. There should be none. Check chassis to frame and pins to frame. Install an LV kit if you have one. Highly recommended. Report back

Will do.

Yeah, quit sitting on all of them LV6100's:D

Why, you need one? I think I have an extra one left.

Do you have a HV probe? If you're going to start messing with vector monitors I would highly recommend you get one.

Those K6100's are infamous for losing connection between the monitor and the
wiring harness itself. The pins tend to get pushed backward/downwards and you lose connection. Check that. Also, if there happens to be a 2' long extension cable in between monitor and harness get rid of it.

Have you tested the fuses on the deflection board?

I do have a HV Probe. I will check the connections (the cab was not moved, but I will try. I have tested the fuses.

I would take one off of your hands, for that damn Space Duel of mine.

Consider it yours. we can figure out out later.

The "Tempest" 6100 flow chart is quite good and helped me diagnose the problem with mine...a bad diode in the LV section:

thanks!

Deadly,

I totally forgot that there were 4 fuses on the board. One was bad (the one in the middle of the board, closest to the HV cage). Working fine now, but I will be installing an lv2000 to be safe.

thx!
