When facing the back of the monitor, the right side lv2000 light goes out. I can have all deflection transistors plugged in and both lights stay on but once I plug the yoke onto the board the light goes out. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I did not have hv. The 180 tested at 0. I put another hv unit in and same thing. Neither unit confirmed tested working though but both rebuilt. I can hear deflection chatter but the monitor is black. No spot killer.

Again, with the hv unit disconnected I plugged in one by one the transistor plugs into the board and both lights on the lv2000 stayed on. When I plugged in the yoke I lost the light on the right of the lv2000. What does it all mean? ;)

Thanks. I will check those later tonight. Before I stored this monitor I replaced all the frame mounted transistors but it does not mean something didn't get cooked or just go bad.

I will report back. Thanks again.

Tested both transistors and they were fine but I replaced anyway. P900 pin1 1.5 volts, pin8 23ish volts, pin5 about 20 volts. Now with the hv unhooked at p900, just the chassis hooked to the gameboard I have all the deflection transistors unplugged and set the lv2k to 26vdc. I am able to plug all of the transistor cables into the board with both lights staying lit. Once I plug in the yoke, the right side light for the +25 goes out. Hmmm....

I did put another hv unit in with the same symptoms, did not verify voltages or that either are actually known good.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

It feels like a bad connection, maybe before the LV2000? Basically you are losing a voltage rail when you connect a load. Make sure the fuses are in good shape and tight, all the diodes are good, and check all soldering between diodes and LV2000

I will get back on diag this weekend. I'll slide out Tempest and test the boards there too. Thanks for all the help. I will not let this weekend go by without fixing this damn thing!

Well just as a follow up, I fixed a different deflection board and got the game working. I did not find the issue on the original. All the traces were good. Oh well, I will have to screw with it at another time.

Thanks for all the help!
