The Black Widow I have has a slight convergence issue. The blue and only the blue sits about 1/16" down from the rest of the colors at the left of the screen... and by the time it hits about 2/3 the way to the right it's perfectly converged.

Anyone know which tab I need to dick around with to rectify this issue?

WG6100 of course.

Thanks!

Oh... since I am already talking about the 6100...

It works fine... would a wise man purchase and install a new cap kit and/or low voltage mod (LV2000/6100)?

The red/blue convergence rings are the pair in the middle - purity rings are the pair closest to the tube, and the green is the pair at the back, closest to the neckboard. These rings do NOT act independently, and they will interact with each other to some degree. Adjustments can be made by adjusting the pair together, or relative to one another. The manual for the monitor gives more hints.

A wise man probably would install a cap kit and reflow the solder joints. The question is, will Frizz?

IMHO, the LV mod is optional - I usually only do something about it when there is a problem with the existing LV circuits. If they're not fried now, they were evidently good enough. Be sure to check and set your B+/HV after doing a cap kit though. Personally, if the monitor is working fine, but with all original caps, I'd go ahead and replace the caps, since I'd want to pull the chassis out anyway to reflow all the Molex pins/headers. Don't bother changing the transistors - leave them alone if they're working now.

Here's what I do:

-Bring up the crosshatch screen, the one that allows you to change colors.
-Set the front (closest to yoke) purity rings opposite each other and parallel to the floor (horizontal monitor)
-Go to the purple (or red & blue) screen
-Moving the middle two tabs together or apart aligns red & blue either vertically or horizontally (I forget which), and moving them around the neck without changing the distance between them does the other axis. It is useless to spread them at more than a 90º angle from each other.
-Focus on the center of the screen, you will not get the corners / edges perfect, find a compromise.
-Switch to the white crosshatch screen
-Apply the same technique for red & blue on green (closest to neckboard) as you did for red and blue
-Again find a compromise
-You can sometimes adjust the yoke for better convergence.
-A few more things to try if nothing is working right:
--Try moving the front set of rings around, I usually try to get the picture centered on the screen with them.
--Try moving the whole ring set forward or backward on the neck
