Ok, experts I need your help.

I have a 6100 that has vertical collapse. It was modified before I got it with "The final solution", so it doesn't have Q102 or Q103. Q705 and Q706 have additional components in line.

I have replaced the two transistors on the deflection board and all remaining frame mounted transistors.

It took a power surge and only displays the lower half of the screen, which is space duel in this case.

When I test the frame transistors with a multimeter for continuity between the case and the metal frame, I get continuity that moves back and forth between Q606 and Q706. So I am guessing the small amount of current the multimeter is providing is switching the transistors.

Where do I go next? What component is switching between the two transistors that is causing the collapse?

One more detail, is every once and awhile when I turn it on, it will work for a few minutes.

Please help!

Thanks!!

1) Unplug the connectors to the frame-mount transistors when testing them.

2) Reflow the solder on the pins for the connectors on the deflection board.

3) Inspect the wires connected to the frame-mount transistors to make sure none are loose or barely hanging on.

If it works sometimes, then that leans you in the direction of a connection issue...
