600$ for a broken pinbot? Too risky for the price?

Yeah...I don't make very much money after all the bills are paid.. Any time I have spending money generally involves me working 60 hour weeks to get it.

The good news Frax is the bills are being paid. We are a lucky bunch to even be considering buying stuff like pinball machines....

Deals and opportunities come and go. Sometimes you have the cash, sometimes you watch a good deal pass you by because you are broke, but ultimately if you are patient it works out. It's the "patient" part that is an issue, at least for me.

Word, examiner. :/ ita way too easy to forget how much you do have unit you dont have it. Human nature is a bitch.

Doesnt stop me from wanting that grail pin on the cheap though!

Epicly bad timing to get started collecting pins though. Not that I have room to criticize mind you.

Then again the days of good deals being common are pretty far in the past. And I don't see pins getting cheaper again anytime soon (if ever). Unless some of the retailers start dropping like flies and their assets get liquidated.

Not to disparage anyone here but they can go to hell. There is one here that has maybe 20 machines listed on ebay. Wants over 5k for a STTNG? that mofo better be SPOTLESS at that price....with some serious clearcoat.

Even the small guus wont hardly talk to people unless theyre willing to foront thousands of dollars. Scuba tried to hook me up with this lead on a Space Station over in ftw. The guy cant be arsed to get to it in his wearhouse and wants me to drive out 70 miles on a whim just to look at it. 140 miles and no chance that i can look at it plugged in? HELL NO!

I don't think you need to worry. Most (not all mind you) pinball retailers wouldn't bother trying to sell to us cheapasses anyways, and despite their involvement have no interest in chatting about games.

That is why I mention retailers dying off. In 10-20 years when some of the hoarder-level retailers and collectors who couldn't sell much pass on it seems unlikely that their families won't be having fire sales, auctions, and bulk sales like you wouldn't believe. You'd be surprised how many guys I've talked to who have hundreds of pins warehoused in unknown condition and think they're sitting on a gold mine, unwilling to take reasonable prices even as they approach retirement age and beyond (which is their business obviously, I just can't comprehend the mentality).

Which show is it that IPB usually brings repro playfields to? HAAG or the Expo? (at least I thought there were two different shows)

Might wanna cherry pick a new FH playfield if they bring some...
