Wife just got a phone call from the kids doctor in Wilmington. The doctor is relocating due to state funded healthcare not paying them and how the state is really messing up the healthcare. The doctor asked if we would like to be on 60 Minutes due to our sons critical asthma he has and how we now have to depend on incompitent emergency room doctors that can cause death to our child. I waited for 15 years for chance like this. Answer was an easy yes :) No clue what the full story is about or what they want from us, but I am 100% prepared to bad mouth the current health bill and healthcare in general. Ohio has lost too many doctors in the past year due to state screwing them over. I am very excited and will report back after we visit them in Wilmington Monday.

Kevin

PS: Wilmington is famous for Airborn screwing the county and employees over when they suddenly closed their doors.

Unfortunately they will probably edit your interview to meet their "pro reform" agenda.
Hope not though. Would be nice to get the truth for once :)

Best of luck, I'll be interested to see if you think that the show that airs accurately reflects your feelings and situation.

Even if they play your words, they can make you look greedy or lazy or self righteous or uncaring or whatever and play the health care bill as a great thing even for boobs like you who just don't get it.

No way would I sign on for something like this, but maybe I'm just a paranoid nutcase.

Rock on buddy that's awesome. Hopefully they can also point out that the quick H1N1 tests are about 50% reliable and people are dying because of it. Point out the system is broke - and how Medicare isn;t being accepted by certain places anymore. Doctors are getting lazy. I certainly don't mean this to be a blanket statement because my family doctor happens to phenomenal and I'm lucky to have her.

Of course it will be edited :) As for myself, I'm honest as it gets. I have np answering any question there is.. just be prepared for the answer though, lol. No clue what is involved, I never done anything like this before.

Political side, I always hated reps for opposing free healthcare, but I realized I should be more pissed at the Dems for always stating free healthcare is their top priority (since Clinton) and yet here we are no step closer to reform. This new healthcare plan is a joke. I rather see it left alone than this new (unknown) plan to happen. Everyone knows reform does need to happen, but all politicians are abusing this oppertuniy to log roll their own bills to agree with medical bill. If your household is paying income tax to give those who never worked a free ride, why is it those taxpayers are the ones who have to do without healthcare.

Many know I have an illness. For 4 years I did not have healthcare, it's been a bitch! Last month, we get a letter that we are now approved for the medical card (kids were already on it). Pathedic as it sounds, I literally cried over it. It was winning a lottery time for me. Too much time passed with my doctor, to where I would be a new patient. They are not taking new patients. My orthapedic no longer accepts state medical, so I have to find a new one. Rhubmatologist is 1.5 hours away from me. I do have appointments with all. Now, I have to rush these doctors to get things done before I don't qualify anymore for the medical card. So far, I had to get all blood test done over to show family doctor I do have Lupis. I literally loss progress in my health I made with my old family doctor to the new one wanting me to get all new tests done for everything (rack the bill up).

It is karma that my family was asked to be interviewed. I just hope the reason is for the right one.

Good luck with this Kevin!! I hope they don't butcher up what you say... and I hope some good comes of you doing this!

All the best to you in your own personal health care battles!

Better 60 Minutes than some of the other "news" magazine that are just mouthpieces for the network agenda.

Good luck. And don't forget to mention that you would rather see the money go to rescue sick and dying arcade machines than get wasted on government beauracracy.

I hope you get better. Ohio is fucked.

Furthermore, I hope that meaningful healthcare reform gets passed so that your family can get the care you need. Or that you are able to find a path to better care without it.

60 minutes won't be interested in your opinions on health care or politics or whatever. They will primarily be interested in your personal story. You are there for the human interest angle. It's best that you keep to the that. If you are lucky, you might be able to get a sliver of opinion in, and they might air it.

But if you just rail on like you are a caller on talk radio, they might scrap your story all together.

+1 Exactly correct

It's the "Average Joe" opinion and family problems that they are after. Not just another coward Youtube political rambler. Keep that in mind and you will do fine. Let us know when it airs!!

I just got back from the interview. There was about 5 familys (counting mine). This is the interview before the real one (few days). This black lady and I just stole the whole interview. Her and I was in sycn with each other. I got to give Walmart a black eye twice. 1) They just hired bunch of seasonal help and turned around and fired all of them. 2) How it is cheaper to get insurance directly with a major provider than use Walmarts health benefits (i was asked this).

The doctor was trying to keep it on lack of pediatricians in area, but us families wanted to keep it on healthcare in general. 60 Min interviewer seemed to care more about the healthacre in ohio in general too. I have the walmart benefits book to take with me to show how more than 3/4 of wages it would cost to have their 'benefits'. I was happy with the initial interview. Just wonering when the REAL interview happens, what questions would be asked. I was about to just let the wife go and do it ( I want to discuss political part of healthcare), but decided I have to start my battle somewhere and this is the best oppertunity to start.

I can see the following day MSNBC headline now:

Man who complains about insurance has house full of expensive arcade games.

Just kidding! (Hopefully)

And just like I try to tell everyone who visits the 'cade - they aren't expensive if you know what you are doing. Noone ever believes me.
