I put a 60 in 1 board in a Stern cab that was missing guts when I got it, but the volume for quite a few of the games (not all) was too high. It seemed it was being amplified for the speaker fine, not too loud, but the source material was cranked up, almost like they had the in-game volume maxed to the point of distortion, then amplified it.

Is there a fix for this?

Nope, there are certain games where the audio clips (distorts). It's something you have to live with. Turning the volume down on the board helps some, but it means other games are quieter.

Thought so. Lame. Such an easy thing to fix. Too bad the manufacturers don't understand English and can't read the message boards.

It's maybe (almost certainly) not worth the effort, but I'd think the game sounds clip because they're using sound samples which were clipped.. if you could find/replace the samples with good ones... I understand 0% of how the board works though so I could be way off base.

How loud do you have it turned up? I usually crank the on-board pot all the way up, then turn the screen volume down to about 10-15. Plenty loud enough to hear when playing...

i didnt think Gyruss was bad sound wise but i never played the original
(i actually like having the atract sound on that game while i work in the shop its kinda catchy )
but 1943 sounds like someone steped on a box of ducks but meh that game sucks anyway id rather play giga wing or one of the newer shooters

I've never played Gyruss on an original machine either. I guess I've always thought it sounded a little off, but it's miles better than the loud, over-driven 1943. To the untrained ear I think Gyruss sounds fine, personally.
