Okay I have a 60 in 1 pcb that I got from Nixs (thanks for great service as ever!) anyway I had a Coors light bowling cab, and finally got round to getting this done, got a new trackball to pcb harness from local arcade seller, hooked right up to the trackball and nothing, obviously the manual is pretty useless on that front, what settings work? or is this trackball not suitable for use with 60 in 1 and needs a new one? everything plugs up matches and nothing, anyone? thanks in advance

if your trackball has green boards inside, then it will not work. if it has red boards inside, then it should work.

And there was a batch of the "B" version boards that wouldn't work with the trackball connected to the trackball connectors on the board, but would work if it was connected to the Player 2 joystick wiring from the JAMMA harness (as is mentioned in the manual)...

thanks no these were A boards from Nixs, and guess will need to get a new trackball then, or switch out the optos?

You can buy the red boards and put them in, but open it up and see.

And how do you know you got an "A" board?

well yeah I could get a pair of red boards, but new seem to be about 20 a piece so for a little more can get a new trackball, with new rollers and a pretty ball, and as for how do I know its grade A, I take Nixs word on it really

that's cool. I've been using "B"'s at work and they look a lot like "A"s, so it's conceivable they could be sold by the suppliers overseas as "A" and not be.

Get a new trackball and see what happens...

okay I have a new trackball with Red PCBS, new harness from trackball to PCB, and still cant get this damn thing working, any tips please?

Have you tried hooking up the trackball to the player 2 wiring from the JAMMA harness yet? Some boards won't read the trackball if you use the onboard connector.

And I think i heard there were a few that were made that wouldn't read a trackball at all....

okay hooked it up to the player 2 JAMMA harness and at least works now! up and down seem smooth and fast, but left right is very slow? everything is wired up right, do i need to change settings? or whats up? its a brand new happ red pcb trackball

might just be a perception issue. If you want, swap the red boards inside the trackball and see if the left and right is now faster than the up and down. If not, then it's a perception or gameplay issue (could also have something to do with the angle the trackball is mounted). if the fast changes to left/right and the up/down becomes slow, then there might be a problem with that trackball board or the connector to it...

thanks ill try that tomorrow and see, I guess I was expecting the trackball to work like the orignals centipede etc, but as never seen a xx in 1 playing and using a trackball is it just like 2nd best? not as good? not worth the hassles to play a couple of games?

The 4 games it is relative for (Centipede, Millipede, Arkanoid, and Breakout) have some settings in the menu for trackball speed, too....

i have never got the ports to work on both a's and b's
i normally wire it to the 2nd player controls and it has always worked

okay setting the speed to fast and works better, not 100% but hey its not the real thing, thanks for the help and sucks the so called harness and the plug and play isnt that easy :-(

I just got my 2nd board this week (not from nixs) and that mother fXXKer won't work on either board.

The last 10 boards I had worked. Guess it's off to cutting player 2 wires into the trackball.

When you attach the wires, do you have to do something with the +5 and ground coming out of the trackball?

Yes I am assuming. Just run them from the power supply to the 2 pins on the trackball?

yeah I just ran the +5v off the main psu, it sucks to do that with the harness thou, as really hoped was just a plug and play using the harness from pcb to trackball, and everything I was told about needing 'red' boards seemed to be worse than the old 'green' pcb trackball, glad I finally got mine running, but certainly would not be rushing to do another trackball multicade anytime soon

Yeah it is a bitch when the con3 doesn't work, and awesome when it does.

This has been the worst luck for me this time. Never had any board not work with trackball straight to pcb, before these 2.
Wired that bitch up last night, and it's flawless though.

Special thanks to Mod for quick and precise responses via PM.

I also just came across my first batch that the connector didnt work. I have been using p2 for almost a year now and had an old jamma wired cab with no p2 wires, so tried to do the easy thing and use the connector -- FAIL.

I think I am out of Jamma Harness pins... time to go rob peter to pay paul.

Check the virtual dip switch settings. try switching them. That might help.
