60-in-1 price check

So we all agree the sound sucks on some games but overall its a good value. Another good thing about the 60 in 1 is that it saves high scores. I love that feature. My friends are always trying to break my Galaga and Ms pacman scores.

What's wrong with the quality of the sound on Galaga or Ms Pac-Man? The only one a non-arcade-geek would notice as crappy is Gyruss. Most aren't going to notice the missing step sound on Donkey Kong nor the difference with Bombjack (among others). Hell, I've never seen a dedicated Bombjack, so what do I care? It sounds fine to me...

Funny..Gyruss is the game I play the most and I haven't played the game for years...the sounds are a bit off

Millipede sound is a little jacked up also...but I do have a Millipede sitting right next to my 60-in-1 so that's probably why I notice it

As far as cost? There's probably 2 completely different mindsets here..

They guy that stuffs a 60-in-1 in an existing jamma cab..while doing very little 'other' work to make a buck. That one probably isn't worth $400

Or the guy that starts with a gutted cab installing everything new...multi artwork...new joysticks, buttons, trackball...recapped\refurbished arcade monitor ect. This is how I did mine and it ended up spending quite a bit more cash than expected.

I know. I took a gutted and damaged cab, repaired and repainted, added all new artwork (CPO, side art, bezel, marquee), added a new control panel, new controls, rebuilt monitor with no burn-in, new harness, new power supply, new leveler feet, redone coin door, new speaker (shielded), new speaker grill - and listed it a bit higher than I wanted (to make the hagglers feel good about knocking the price down). The first guy to show up took one look at it and paid the asking price.

If I sell a cab that is barely worked on but working, then I price it as such. If I spend $400 in parts alone to make it nice, then it gets priced accordingly...

I won't even waste my time to build a decent multicade for any less than $200 bucks profit in my hands. On average this is my price break down:

NIXS board: 110
New 200watt power supply: 30
New joystick: 10
5-6 buttons LED: 15
New harness: 15
19" LCD monitor: 50
New marquee and cpo from MameMarquees: 50
New plexiglass: 15
New T-molding: 10
New marquee light: 10
Shipping for all said stuff: 25
Empty cabinet: 25

So even my base costs are over $350. I usually sell these simple black painted cabs for $650, but if necessary I still have fudge room to come down in I need it gone. My multis which have trackballs generally list and sell for around $750-$800.
I did build one extravagant multi once with full vinyl artwork for quite a bit more, but it also cost me a bit more. In the end, I feel much better sitting on a simple multi for sale than waiting for a decked-out money pit multi to sell.

Where are you getting 19" LCD's for 50 bucks? What kind do you use?

Where do you find the 60 dollar boards? I've never seen any that cheap.

Does anyone really get 1200 for multi games now?

Depending on the cab, monitor, art, and controls. Anywhere from 400 to 800. I see them listed for much higher all the time; I'd like to know if they sell. Is it just a waiting game?

I came up with the 600 dollar number cause I met a guy the other day I bought a machine off of and he had a couple in his barn and I asked if he built them and he said they go for 600 all day long.

I found a guy thru CL local to me that can score me good, solid re-worked 19" LCDs for $50 each. Most are HPs from 2007. I can't stand buying the newest LCDs out there, because most are set to 16:9. Gotta have the square screens.
