60-in-1 price check

I'm putting a new arcadeshop marquee, cpo, installing a jamma harness and painting the inside and outside of cab. I was thinking 600, so I think I'm in line.

Your price seems good then. From my experience, monitor size, side art, and cabinet style will vary price. A 25" monitor will go for more money but take longer to sell, side art will increase value (but not necessarily equal more profit because cost goes up), and Galaga/Ms. Pacman cabinet styles will get more money, especially with proper side art for those games.

I charge anywhere from $700 to $1200 depending on what amount of detail I get involved with.

I agree with this range. It really depends on how much you pick a cab up for and how much of it you can reuse (pwr supply, joystick, artwork...). All the parts add up. I tend to gut a cab and use all new guts, that way I know everything is solid.

He's going to hate the 8-way, btw. I'd put in a 4-way so you don't get complaints about how the joystick doesn't work right when playing Ms Pac-Man. He'll never notice Xevious doesn't go diagonal...

I was really struggling with this but the games he really requested were Galaga and Ms pacman so I think you're right. I didn't realize the 60 in 1 didn't compensate for and 8 way joy on a 4 way game. I can't say I'm surprised though considering the quality of the sound.

I'm gutting the existing cab because it Is wired for Mr do castle and is a terrible rats nest job. I'm just going to install a Jamma harness and power supply. I already rebuilt the g07 and it looks great.

I did one like that but with a computer monitor. New guts, new marquee, bezel and cpo art from gameongraphics, buttons and 4 way/8 way switchable joystick from Ultimarc (spelling??) and had about $500 into it not counting my time. No side art, just painted the cab black. Keep track of all your costs because it all adds up.

What's wrong with the quality of the sound on Galaga or Ms Pac-Man? The only one a non-arcade-geek would notice as crappy is Gyruss. Most aren't going to notice the missing step sound on Donkey Kong nor the difference with Bombjack (among others). Hell, I've never seen a dedicated Bombjack, so what do I care? It sounds fine to me...

Have you tried turning up your hearing aid?

The sounds on the multis seem very harsh/raspy - and some games are very distorted. 1943, for example, sounds awful. Gyruss is very crappy as well. Ms. Pac and Galaga are pretty close, but I still find Galaga a bit off.

I mean, the multi boards are passable, but not great. True, a non-arcade-geek wouldn't notice, but I'm an arcade geek. I do notice. It bothers me.

Juno first is horrible and that's the one game I wanted to play the most. Gyruss is off but playable. 1942 & 1943 are off. Frogger has a sound issue in third stage. Burgertime has a loud sound that is eventually drowned out by gameplay music. Scramble nd super cobra sounds are horrible. There's a bunch. Also some sounds are loud like galaxian crash and gun smoke

Charging 1200$ for a bootleg 60$ board job + crappy cab restore job is sad.

+1

Personally, I think a 60-in-1 cabinet, fixed up and working, should be about $400. All the parts are readily available and cheap. The only part worth anything in such a game is the monitor. And if you cop out and throw in some crappy computer monitor, it should be even cheaper.

Not to say you couldn't make one extra nice that would go for more. But if you just take some cabinet, paint it black and stuff a bootleg board in it...

On that note, does anyone want a 60-in-1 do it yourself kit? I've got an Asteroids cabinet that's perfect! Just add monitor, Jamma harness, controls, 60-in-1 board, and power supply. But hey, it's already painted black!

As I said before, only the arcade geeks obsess over every little detail. If you don't like the sound of 1943 on the multi - then buy a dedicated 1943 and not a multi. Then a Galaga. Then a Gyruss. Then a Donkey Kong. Then a Bombjack. Then a bigger house. Etc. Or go out an design your own multi board that uses exact sounds (and stereo output to boot).

If you bought a $50 multiboard (+ shipping and markup) because you don't have the space or money to get all the dedicated games, or don't have the knowledge to design your own, but feel spending $50 somehow entitles you to bitch about the quality of the design when "you get what you pay for" - then do us all a favor and shut up about it. Save your breath for bitching about a $600 game board that isn't accurate.

Y'all sound like the lady who complained to me that her $19 computer speakers didn't sound as good as her Bose 7-speaker audio system in her Mercedes when playing the same song...

I wasn't bitching at all just saying which few had errors. I Actually love mine very much because of the price and because I can't afford all the dedicated cabinets. Between dk and the pacs I got my money worth :),

Grab the 4way~8way joystick from jammaboards. They're cheap and work awesome.

It was originally set up for 8way..man did that suck!
