I got a 60 in 1 for Christmas last year and it worked fine until about a month ago, when, after a thunderstorm (although it wasn't plugged in), it stopped working and played blind. I thought it was the monitor needing recapping, as the monitor just showed black, but not until tonight when I turned all the other games off and looked at it that I realized, the monitor IS projecting an image, just a black screen! I quickly swapped the board to my only other JAMMA board, my 3 in 1, and it's running fine again now.

Any clue what happened to my 60 in 1? It's the A board, and it looks perfect physically, although it's obviously not. I doubt it has to do with the lightning but is it possible being so close (it struck a tree close outside) would have some ill effect?

could just be coincidence too..

id check the dips to make sure its not outputting on vga instead of cga like you want it to..

carefully lookover the traces from the video pins back into the board.. best of luck..

if you have a old pc monitor hook it up then flip the dip, mabye itll at least work that way and you could build a new machine with a vga monitor in it or something neat..

I do not know if lightning kill your board or not, lightning hit tree next to my house once,I think kill TV tuner,TV tuner won't work after the lightning,TV was only 2 weeks old.

Thanks for bringing that up, I never thought to check the dips. It's quite possible that one of them got switched off somehow by gravity... I didn't think to look before because it WAS working at one point and I hadn't messed with it, but the dips aren't very tight if I remember correctly.

If that doesn't work I will try an old monitor, I have several... it'd be fun to have a new project anyway.

Are any lights lit up on the PCB? Red light, orange light, blinking green light - anything?

flickers or blinks? It's supposed to blink.

Make sure the socketed chip is pushed in all the way. I see chip creep sometimes.

See anything burned on the chassis?

Blink is what I mean. It's an obnoxious blink, but a blink.

I didn't see anything burned, but I haven't looked very closely. I'll check for those things tomorrow. I did try checking for wiggling chips, but I'll try again.

If it's blinking, that normal operating condition. Does it play blind at all even without a pic? Try turning on dip switch #4 and boot it into test to see what happens...

I have a 48in1 that has a bad VGA port but the JAMMA side (CGA) works ok. I believe the board was dropped.

That board has some wicked tiny ICs and a resistor ladder for outputting the video and it's all hidden under the plastic cover. There's no way to see what's burnt without removing it... and even then you'll need a loupe to see what the damage is.

I had my chip pushed in...BIG TIME!!! HAHAHA!!!

...anybody else had their chip pushed in???

Try an old VGA monitor if you have one laying around to see if the board still outputs video. I always use VGA tube monitors in my Multicade builds... they are a lot less hassle than having to baby a 30 year old CGA.

Yeah, chips are all fine, and the dips are all in proper positions (I fiddled around with them to make double sure). I think it has something to do with the lightning so close, it killed the TV (which was turned off but exploded), the cable (turned on, so it makes sense), the wireless phones (not plugged into anything, even!) and a lot of other stuff so it makes sense I guess.

I'm no good at board repair so I may just buy a new one. Anyone know where to get one cheap?
