So I've decided to install a 60 in 1 into a non jamma cab. Original cab had a bootleg ms pacman. My problem is that I get strong vertical black lines throughout the games . What I have ruled out monitor, power supply, 60 in 1 board. I believe I have the rgb wires correctly. RGB and ground wired to the rgb ground on the 6 position part and the sync is on the negative side v and have is jumped.

Things I have tried; field ground jumped to common on ps. Common tied to the frame of the monitor. Even if I put another jamma board in it shows the same lines .

Why have you ruled out the monitor? If you put another pcb in it and you're getting the same lines, it's likely the monitor. Have you capped it?

Sorry I should have been more clear. If I reinstall the ms pac board with the bootleg harness it works just fine. If I put in another jamma board with the jamma harness same problem.

So I just ran across another thread with someone saying these monitors streak with multi boards? Is what I'm seeing streaking ?

you cant just plug in a jamma board into a non jamma wire harness without checking the pinout or having a custom made harness unless of course the pinout is the same

triple check every wire going every which way, in that wire harness connector before you condemn the monitor

try unplugging the light in the marquee to see if the fluorescent transformer is influencing the image on the screen somehow

good luck

Understood . I have a jamma harness . I did a complete rewire been through the wirring a bunch of times. Right now I have the board outside of the machine thinking I had some noise going on. Only wires I have landed is just power and the monitor . Trying to isolate the problem.

You may want to color balance. Your screen control looks like it is turned way up because your black is actually gray. You may have other colors overdriven too. Start by backing off the brightness/screen and see if your lines go away.

Yea tried that . The only thing that seems to help a little bit is cranking the contrast all the way up. And leaving the rgb in the middle .

Are you using Video GND on the jamma harness? I find that can cause lots of issues i usually just connect that straight up the GND of the power supply either Pins 1 or 2 on the jamma harness. i found on some pcbs usually JAMMA bootlegs that video GND pad is not connected what so ever

I have the same sort of issues with one of my cabinets using a 619 in 1, Pandora Box V4 and normal PCBs, I have to adjust the monitor brightness/contrast for 619 and PB Box 4 as i find the monitor is super bright and does a similar issue with what your seeing

Do you ever get the issue resolved or just avoid the games that looks crappie?

By the way I did tie in the ground on the harness that was missing . Same results. Also ran it from the power supply same results. One thing I still have a question on is I have a 6 position and a 3 position. I was always under the assumption that the 3 position was negative. So I tied sync and ground to the negative side . Same results . And then I tried it on the 6 position side same results.

Bump still looking for help.

I have hooked this up through the vga port just to see if the problem followed. And it did not. Tried all sorts of things with ground. Still no where closer getting this problem solved. Need some advice please.

Is the case of the switching power supply tied to earth ground? And do you have the fround lug on the power wall plug?

No it is not. And know I don't have a ground lug on the outlet . I use a three prong adapter to get it down to two.

You think earth can be causing this issue?

Yes, it should be grounded. I've seen this happen in new games we've built. Let us know if that helps.

OK I will get that taken care of this weekend I will let you know if it helps.

Thanks for the help.
