Can't get the atx power supply to turn on (presumably because it needs to be plugged into a mother board to run). How can I use this computer power supply to power my 60 in 1 board. Seems there is a workaround for this somehow.

Any issues with running it that way permanently?

It might be an issue if you were hacking it into a regular setup, but since the multigame is kind of a chinese bootleg joint anyways, it really doesn't make much difference if you use a kind of hacked up power supply... hell it works, who's going to take away style points for that? Essentially it's running MAME, too.

Just ground out that green wire and it should plug right into that little side plug on the board and awwwwwway you go!

In my case it would be a regular setup for a Jpac and MAME game, unlike the OP... just piggybacked onto his thread.

I am using computer power supplies in my garage for running car electronics. Also using them for multicades and even used one that I wired into a Sony PS3 that had a bad powersupply. All of these are with the green wire connected to a black ground. So far no issues.

Thanks, guys!

Now that I'm farther along with my MAME project, it's not entirely clear what I'll be doing with a new power supply. The computer doesn't need it, the marquee doesn't need it, the controls don't need it.

Maybe the coin lights will need it? Possibly the light under the illuminated trackball?

The power supply -- if I need it at all -- will barely be used for anything. In fact, the notes from Ultimarc suggest not even supplying the +5 and +12 to the jamma harness.

So it's good info but not sure I'll actually have to use it now. :)
