True, but there are shades of grey in piracy as well. Pirating a piece of software that's 30yrs old, will NEVER be in production again, and may not even have anyone to contact for licensing is a little different than taking a current product and simply cloning it. The former doesn't take any money out of the developers pocket and maintains a dying product line, while the latter discourages innovation in reproduction hardware.
<whipping dead horse/>
yes there are grey areas in every law...and they techinically get away with using alot of that if the all the rights owners are deceased and copywrites and such run out.
plus heres an odd 1...
im in a band that has releases out.
our cds were out of print and such but being repressed and redone soon.
a russian company has our cd on a download paysite.
sure our policing system would enforce our copywrites etc.
in russia they are so poor that the government will consider this a "waste of time"
send emails to the site owner and get this reply... "xxxxx is 1 of my favorite bands thanks for emailing me!!!"
im glad he loves my band...but hes getting $1 per song off my bands dl's. were the fuck is my cut! i have no job, or income (had to start selling off my arcade collection, good thing it was large)...sometimes all these grey areas are lame!!!!
on the other hand id die without a 60/1 lol!!!!
and there is a huge difference between a poor indie grind band
and lets say namco. most certainly they aint going broke soon...they should do another run of arcade machines
and watch the money pour back in.
