I have a 60-1 that I have wired based on the jamma pinout that came with the board. I noticed there is no -5v on the pinout, is this gonna hurt the board if I have -5v hooked up?

Also, does anyone else notice a slight screen flicker when the game load when powering up a 60-1? I also notice it in games when certain sounds play such as when DK stomps on the ground, or Mario gets hit by a barrel. I've also noticed it when dying in Galaga as well. If I play with the brightness it goes away, but then it's too dark and some colors do not show up, such as the blue water in frogger.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks!

The board will not be damaged if you connect the -5 on the harness. The pad on the board is not connected, so the voltage will not go there. If you plan to swap other boards in, you'll probably need that -5 connected.

Not sure what screen flicker you reference. I don't usually see any. It could possibly be something on your monitor, or perhaps your +5 voltage is a little too high or too low and certain screens/sounds cause the load to drop it a little - affecting the screen. You'd have to post a video of the effect for me to be more specific...

Are you running VGA or CGA? I have had flickering but only on VGA and only on startup.

I will try to post a video later. I am running CGA on a Sanyo. I had an empty DK that I picked up a while ago that I mamed with LCD, but I want it to be original at somepoint. So I took the PC and LCD out, got a k4901 which is too big to fit in the cab, so I swapped the sanyo from my Mario with the K4901 since it fits and I have the inverter boards already.

The DK is in great shape and I am not drilling and CP holes, even when I named it I built my own panel and bought the repo DK panel from mikes arcade.

But I got a good deal on the 60-1 and I already had the harness and power supply so I jumped on it. One day it will be a DK with D2K, but until I have space it will be a multi only using the 3 buttons on the original panel. If I set it to boot directly to DK only you guys will be able to notice that it's not a "real" DK :p

As for the flickers, it's when there is music. Even flickers in the setup screen where you adjust the volume. But it flickers to the beat of the music. It's very faint, but now that I noticed it, it bothers me.

I've checked my +5v and it needs to be between 5-5.5v according to the manual, so I have it set at 5.25 right now and it is still flickering ( it was at 4.99 before)

You shouldn't have the PS set higher than 5.20. I usually set them at 5.10-5.15.

Has the 4901 been rebuilt lately?

You could try running a wire from the PS DC ground to the monitor frame...

The K4901 is in my Mario now. I am using the sanyo on this board. Both monitors have been rebuilt and do not experience any issues with Mario or other jamma games.

Thanks for the tip on the voltages, I will lower mine accordingly.

I am running the audio directly from the jamma harness. I'll try the stereo plug an see if it changes.

Well I checked my connections and added the -5, and lowered my +5 to 5.15v. I tested it with Ikari warriors and had no flickering. Then I put in the 60-1 again and saw flickering during startup. I loaded a few games and adjusted the brightness accordingly and now there doesn't seem to be any flickering. I will fire it up again a a few to see if it stays that way. Now it only seems to be there during startup. I also haven't tried the non jamma audio as I don't feel like cutting the speaker off. I'll check it if I notice the flickering again
