6-Player X-Men heading to X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network

This is great news for those who never got to experience the 6-Player version in the arcade, especially since there's no easy wasy to emulate it. This is also great since there seems to be so many complaints about the sound chip on the PCB crapping out. Now all we need is The Simpsons and we're all set.

Given the 6 player dual screen setup, this might actually be a decent one to make the move to 16:9 screens without being a 4:3 image swimming in a bunch of static image borders. Looks cool, if the price is right I may pick it up.

Meh, I give them a generous D- for effort on this one. Where was this port when the SNES was hot? Besides, online multiplayer just isn't the same as having five strangers (or your friends) playing together. I guess that pretty much sums up the arcade experience though.

Fantastic news! Although this probably spells doom for me ever getting my hands on a 4p X-Men. The game's popularity might go through the roof soon (like Turtles in Time).

Wasn't Turtles in Time on Xbox Live a flop? Or am I thinking of the remake they did?

The original TMNT Arcade Game was released as a straight port for Xbox and was a moderate success, although people quickly grew tired of it, and after the first month or so it became tough to find people to play it with.

Turtles In Time was released on Xbox as an enhanced remake, and it was a lousy one. The original Arcade version was never ported. I always just assumed the value of the Turtles in Time PCB was because of it's reletive scarcity and demand compared to the original TMNT.

The reason X-Men never got ported to SNES is the same reason Simpsons never did, Konami only had the arcade rights, while Acclaim had the home console rights. 'Tis a shame too, since Acclaim's Simpsons and Marvel games were always universally awful, regardless of the platform.

Too bad they couldn't work out some sort of agreement on the ports. There was definitely money to be made with those titles.

Sorry to confuse. I meant the popularity of the arcade PCB. I don't know how successful the console remakes were, only that Turtles in Time suddenly became a very looked for arcade game due to a new user base being exposed to it.

A little late to the party on this one, but this is great news! It's great to see people will have a chance to play the game again (assuming they haven't discovered MAME).
