$510 for a Galaga '88 Marquee, WTF?!!

wow! thats crazy, at that price I have a Galaga 88 translite for $450 and a working pcb $1500

Yeah no doubt.

I'm still trying to figure out what Lyonsarcade's deal is. He wants to block me for losing the auction? Or block me for putting up a big bid because I was going to be away from the comp? I don't get the rationale there.

I think he was the high bidder thanks to you. :D

I'm going to block you for being a meanie and making him buy it for $500. :)

I think what Lyon's trying to say is, you jacked up the bid all the way to $500 yet never realistically would have paid that. If someone had bid it up to $499 and it ended, you would have won it at your $500 bid price, and then what? So I think he's saying he wants to block you in case you're a deadbeat buyer lol

Yes... bid services include a cap just like regular ole EBAY. The only way anyone "sniped" that at over $500 (Nash's bid) was to have actually put a max bid of over $500 in his sniping software.

Insane... period.

If Nash would have ended up winning this auction and had to shell out $500. He is one of the few people I know that actually would have went through with it and paid for it. Nash is far from a deadbeat buyer. It wouldn't be a good business / seller idea to block him. He pays very well for items he needs or wants which I can honestly vouch for. As far as everything else only time will tell. You will either see it relisted or you might be able to see if he receives feedback for the marquee.

nash is not a deadbeat.... Had he won the auction he would have paid. There's no reason to assume otherwise. He is under no obligation to accept a 2nd-chance offer, as that price has been inflated by a crazy snipe (which, given the anonymity of bidders now, could also be a shill).

lol Don't get me wrong dj, I didn't mean nash WAS a deadbeat, I was just tossing out a possible reason why Lyon's would want to block him.

Okay I think I put my foot in my mouth with this one lol. Sorry guys, and Nash as well...as I said, I wasn't inferring you ARE a deadbeat, just that an outsider reading in (or in this case, Lyon) MIGHT have took it that way

The bidding is real. I know the 2nd highest bidder and he said he bid $500 on it. Legit guy who wanted a NOS / MINT galaga 88 marquee.

I wasn't trying to direct it towarded you. I was trying to let everyone no that might not know of Nash. He did plenty of transactions and most for large amounts of money, so just saying this might be the last person you would want to block for whatever reason. Nash is an top notch guy in this hobby.

I believe it. There are some people out there that would pay whatever for something they really want. I did it a few times (not to this extreme), but I've paid a lot of money for certain items that I'm sure most people wouldn't have even paid half that. It all comes down to how bad you want something.

End result: First bidder probably won't pay, that's crazy.

Nash, who bid it up that high, wont' pay anywhere near that.

So the guy gets to relist it, and wait for ebay to give him his what, 40 bucks back?

Personally, on my auctions, I'd rather people bid what they're willing to pay. Nash isn't willing to pay 500 bucks for the marquee, but he bid it anyways.

Maybe he would have paid it if he won. He won't pay it as a backup bidder, though. What sense does that make?

When I bid on things, I'll pay that today, tommorow, next week, next year. That's what it's worth to me.

Playing "Oh, I'll just bid 500 tee hheee heee" games just doesn't cut it for me, sorry.
