$510 for a Galaga '88 Marquee, WTF?!!

Some people are crazy. I seriously doubt that's real though. Nobody would pay five hundred bucks for a Galaga '88 marquee, complete with a crease in the corner. Sure, I mean, yeah, it's an uncommon marquee, but damn. People are stupid :D

HAHAHA Fucked by a sniping service.

That is what that is, look at when his bid hit. The auction was probably in the $100.00 range but then BAM his snipe bid hit he probably said screw I just want to win and got fucked.

Good I hate sniping so much this is funny to see for me.

Yeah Magog I think that you're right. I was the guy who lost lol. I saw that auction a few days ago and just threw a $500 bid up there as I was going to be away from the comp when it ended. I was going to bid $202 on the thing figuring the most any maniac would pay is up to $200 but bid $500 as it was a nice even number. :) It had been sitting at $104.50 for the last few days.

I figured it would go in the $100-$150 range, as it didn't look faded at all, although it did have that crease as Ian said and I can see another small fingernail sized crease in the lower middle area as well. I wonder if the winner will pay. :D Anyone know the seller "purgacomp" in Trinidad, CO? He had a bunch of other marquees end today as well, many of them were NOS.

Looks to be real bidder who WILL pay from there feedback. Heres the last two bidders and there bids

t***p( 328) US $510.00
a***e( 583) US $500.00

My Spidey Sense tells me there will be a second chance offer coming to Nash. I assume he'll pass at $500 and it will relist. Just as well since the description is so nice and concise - probably inkjet made at his house :p

Lol yes I am expecting that, but no, I will definitely pass on the $500. ;)

It's a legit marquee though, not an inkjet homebrew. :D But yes all his listings just listed dims and had no pics of the backsides even. Here are some of his NOS marquee auctions that ended ($5, $5, and $7.50). When he saw the Galaga '88 auction final price he must have lost it.

Ummm, I'll take 10?

Nash, your post is a riot -- so funny to see that guy get stuck with a $500 marquee!

That's 100% pure unadulterated insanity - I would be curious to see if the seller had another account or a friend boosting his bids as well - I can't even wrap my head around that shit, there's no justification for that price.

Magog nailed it in that it was someone using a sniping service. Think about it, if some guy was just sitting there as the auction was ending and started submitting some bids to outbid me, the bid history would show some incremental values (i.e. $150, $175, $200, etc.). But instead, all you see is the snipe bid that took it from $104 to $510.

I have never used a snipe service but can't you place a cap on your bid?
