Has anyone installed a tube that begins with 51xxxxx in the tubenr. (so a 51 cm. tube) in a 19" chassis ?

According to my calculations, 51 cm. is almost exactly 20". So it should be about half an inch extra space needed on the corners.

Has anyone actually done it and was any modding of the chassis needed ?

It'll work electrically, I've seen it done. The tubes aren't different enough in size to need more HV or anything. But you have to bend the corners of the monitor frame a bit to get the tube to fit.

Yeah, I wasn't worried about the electronic side of it, indeed more the physical....

Ah, OK, when you asked about modding the chassis, I assumed you meant the monitor chassis (circuit board)...

Yeah, getting the tube to fit in the frame is a problem. I've tried to make one fit before, and it's real tight - I thought I could just distort the frame a bit and make it fit, but it wouldn't. I've seen it done, it involved cutting little notches in the frame, bending the corners out, etc. I found it easier just to scavenge tubes that fit, but if you've got some nice tubes you want to try using, it can be made to fit.

Someone here has probably done it and can post a picture.

I can get three "NIB" for a good price...that's why I consider it, nothing better than fresh tubes...beats those from TV's that have been running for years...

I once tried to put a 20" tube in a 19" g07 frame and it wouldn't fit. If you build a custom frame for it, you could use it - maybe. Depends on the cab and whether the larger size would be a problem (cocktails mainly)...
