50 cents or 25 cents?

$.25, only dickhead ops charged $.50 BITD....

But it's not "back in the day" anymore, today is 2011.
Thirty years has effected some inflation.
That 35 cent Hershey bar of 1982 is about a dollar now.

I am well aware of inflation and what year it is, you missed the point, but that's ok.....

Actually with many video games isn't the opposite true? BITD when they were charging 25 cents per game some of these titles cost the operator $3,000 but now would sell for $300. or less.

There's also a question of if the freshness of the entertainment value is there. I mean, we're KLOV...so no shit we love playing these games no matter how old or where current trends are heading. Isn't charging new game prices (50-1.00) for say Pac-Man, however, similar to charging new movie ticket prices (what...8? 12 bucks? Dunno anymore) just to see {put 30+ old movie title here} in the theater? Is Joe Blow non-KLOV/arcade head going to really feel good about spending 50 cents on Pac-Man, next to the 50 cent brand new gun game? Is he going to do repeat business on the Pac-Man?

Not claiming to have answers, just think there is an element of these games having passed their popular entertainment value that is also worth discussing.

If you're doing this totally "legit" with an operator's license and can legally charge people for the machine, I say 25c.

If it's something else, then I think the donation box is an excellent idea.

Here's another suggestion. Get a locking donation collection box and put it up next to the machine. Put up a "suggested" 25 cents per play, but put the game on free play. Honest people will throw in some bux just out of appreciation of having the game there. It'll make up for the mooches that just take the freebie and leave.
