+5 volt & +12 volt Jamma harness wiring questions

I have a Multi-Williams Jrok board and I'm in the process of wiring the switches and power.
A couple of questions:

1. +5 volt power wiring: Can I connect all 4 leads to the same connector at the power supply? or do I just use #4 one since I have a generic harness? Which one?
2. Ground wiring: 2 sets of 2 at the top of the board. Connect all 4 to the same ground connector? Or just #1 & #2 ones?
3. 12 volt? Not connected since this board is only 5 volts. I'll use that for the LED lighting. No florescent lighting used.

I've attached a pic.

Since I'm going to be using a VGA monitor, it will have it's own power supply.
I've also attached a shot of the wiring for the power supply. Can anyone confirm it's been done correctly?

3. Bottom ground on board #28. Run this to the coin door correct? What about the others?

4. Common ground for all the buttons and joysticks. Daisy chained together and then grounded to the power supply correct?

5. Video Sync. Since I'm running a vga monitor, do I need to use the H-Sync and V-Sync?

This is the part that's confusing me. I've been to the Real Bob Roberts site and it's offered some suggestions as well.

If anyone could send me a pic of their wiring, that would help immensely.

Thanks.

It's better to run all four of the +5 wires from the JAMMA connector to the power supply, as it will give better - and cooler - power transfer.

2. Ground wiring: 2 sets of 2 at the top of the board. Connect all 4 to the same ground connector? Or just #1 & #2 ones?

Again - it's a good idea to connect them all to the grounds on the power supply, but they don't have to go to both. Also, if you need a ground wire to the control panel, coin door, etc and want to use one of those wires from the harness, you can do so.

3. 12 volt? Not connected since this board is only 5 volts. I'll use that for the LED lighting. No florescent lighting used.

As long as you don't plan to ever swap other JAMMA boards into this cab, then it doesn't matter whether you connect the +12 or -5 wiring to the power supply. It won't hurt the PCB if you do connect them, as PCB's that don't use those won't have circuitry connected to those pads.

4. Bottom ground on board #28. Run this to the coin door correct? What about the others?

5. Common ground for all the buttons and joysticks. Daisy chained together and then grounded to the power supply correct?

As I mentioned in #2, run one ground wire (either from one end or the other) from the harness to each coin door switch (daisy-chained), one ground wire to the control panel switches (daisy-chained), and the rest to the power supply. If you have anything else in the cab that needs grounding (like LED bulbs or whatever) then run a separate wire from the PS directly to it.

6. Video Sync. Since I'm running a vga monitor, do I need to use the H-Sync and V-Sync?

I've not used a JROK board, so I don't know if it has a VGA port on it or not. If it does, then there is no need to use any of the monitor wiring (RGB or Sync). If it doesn't and you are using the Red/Green/Blue/Vid Ground wiring, then you will need to use the Sync wire also (JAMMA wiring only has one composite Sync wire). I believe the Sync wire would go to the H-Sync on the VGA connector:

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure of the power and grounding wires. The board does support VGA, so I'll have to make my own connector.

On the power transformer, does it matter where the black wire and the white wire go? I added a 2.5 or 3 amp slow blow fuse to the line on the black wire to protect the power supply. Now I just need to check if they are connected properly.

Thanks again.

Another question please,
Player 1 and Player 2 use the same buttons such as fire, reverse, etc.
Can I use the wires from the player 1 side and player 2 side connected them both to the same button? Will it effect the board?

Thanks.

I would think that would cause it to always start a 2 player game instead of a 1 player game.

I misunderstood your question.
I thought you were talking about the start buttons.
I would think it would be OK to wire both P1 & P2 controls to the same buttons.
P1 & P2 fire to same button etc.
Some guys wire extra functions to the start buttons,so they don't have to add extra buttons.
