4th year of bringing arcade games to school

This is so awesome to see every year!

How has it been a year already?

Thats so cool. I have a bunch of teachers in the family. Maybe they would be interested in doing this.

why would it be the last year of doing this? I know you cant be running out of games LOL

It's getting to be a pain because they can't provide a decent means to transport them. Last year we had the best truck, this year I couldn't fit any atari games in the liftgate truck because it was too short. I had to bring the centipede and tempest in the back of my truck. The second year the rental truck broke down in the middle of a busy intersection and the truck got towed. Budget wasn't paying the fee so the towing company almost impounded the truck with my games in it.

wow, this is cool! Just think of all the great memories this is making for these kids :) Hopefully you can do it again next year.

Very cool.

The kids might need footstools, though. Doesn't look like they can get a good view of the screen on a couple of those games.

That is fantastic! I love seeing how kids respond to the old school graphics and gameplay. They totally get the allure of these! Very cool of you todo and very cool of the school to go with it!

where is the shot of all the teachers playing?... because we all know that had to have happened as well...

Very cool of you to take the time out to do this.

I'm raising my daughter on these (she'll be 8 in August). What's so sad is that so few kids really get exposure to these games. Not that all modern games are bad by default...but it will be sad when she goes to a friend's house and gets introduced to an Xbox One or a PS4 and discovers post-apocalyptic first-person online shooters...or racing games you practically have to be a mechanic to drive.

What really speaks to how special these titles were is, literally the second children in 2016 get to play these...THEY LOVE THEM! My daughter can't get enough of Dig Dug, Jungle Hunt, all of the Pac-Man titles...just wish more kids got to enjoy these. Most of them won't ever know about these gems, and that's a bummer.

Agreed. My boys are 7 and 9 and I turned them on to MacMAME and they are having a blast discovering the games. Elevator Action and Donkey Kong/Jr. Are huge hits. What made me really happy though was how blown away by Makor Havoc. Fortunately here in Portland we have Ground Kontrol so they can get their hands on the real thing too.

This is cool but kind of sad at the same time...

Sad because kids should be able to find these awesome games at arcades... instead they get to view them like they are a fossil collection brought to the school to take a look into the past.

My guess is that it's the first time some of these kids have ever even seen a classic arcade machine in person. (unless they are the same kids who saw them previous years)

I think the weird thing about all this is the fact that other games are still abundant everywhere... Like pool tables have been basically the same for hundreds of years. (except they had less pockets way back when)

Nobody will bat an eye if they see a pool table in some recreational area... but if a kid saw a Pac-Man arcade they'd be like "what the heck is this thing... why are the graphics so bad?" etc. I mean I guess that's the price you pay for having arcade machines fall into the "technology" tree of recreation.

I think really only pinball machines can last for centuries to come without anyone thinking they are outdated... (obviously still need to update stuff like the displays and lighting to whatever modern tech exists, but the game play is basically unchanged)
