OK- I pulled a flyback off of a spare 4900 chassis and broke off a piece when cleaning it.

My question is if the little metal rod that goes through the center of the transformer and holds a bracket onto the top is functional or not.

I'm not sure if it just holds the core in place. I can't tell if it was epoxied in or if it was a solid piece and just the top half broke off.

I've got another, but I can't tell if this piece is necessary for operation.

No personal experience with a 4900, but I've had that break on others....two or three over the years. All my monitors worked fine without it....YMMV.
