Blew the fuse on my 4900. It's a 4A 125v fuse. Anything else I can use to substitute (besides a gum wrapper or paper clip) Something close in value.

Looks like my Rat Shack only carries 250v fuses. I need a place local so not sure where else to check.

I have no idea if that value is original or not.

Thanks. Just wanted to double check before I hosed something else up.

Get a wired fuse holder while you're there. Make sure its for the proper size fuse (I think 3ag?) as they sell some smaller ones for the smaller automotive fuses (5x20 or some wierd size like that).

4900 fuses are soldered in, and when you get the new fuse, often they're hard to solder to the legs, and you can actually blow the fuse heating them up too much, so its better to just solder a fuse holder in and use that.

I tried to find a fuse holder (employees were no help). I had a feeling when I pulled the fuse it was going to be a pain getting the legs back on.

If I blow a fuse in the attempt, I will stop and go back to RS again.

1 other thing. I went ahead and bought both the slow blow and quick fuses. What is best for the chassis?

I bought a solder-in fuse holder years ago from Radio Shack. I never used it until about a week ago when I got a G07-CAO and F901 was blown. I didn't have any pigtail fuses on hand and didn't want to wait, so I drilled holes and installed the holder. I've got to get parts numbers for these because let me tell you...I'm going to install these on every damn chassis that comes across my desk. Pigtail fuses /suck/.

Well, I used the fast blow fuse. And I'm done. This was all for that neckboard I broke, tried to repair, blew the fuse, Cliffo sends me a neckboard. He hoped it worked because the numbers didn't match. I didn't have any issues soldering the pins on the fuse.

When I got it, I found one cap that was the same value but in a different location. I moved it and WHOO WHOO It works!!

Now I'm down to just 2 monitors not working (1 just new a new fly the other is that bastard k7000).

Thanks again Cliffo and everyone else who helped. I will update that thread just to give it some closure.
